Nope-I am wrong. 12 years from first use (just confirmed that.) So my dfu was 9/5/2015, so I have until 9/5/2027. Eight years left...

NOT A RECALL. Not every truck is affected. Inspection and eval first, then the under coat UNLESS there is a 10mm sized rot hole.

This is an internal court ordered warranty replacement.

Depends on if the truck was a CPO. Mine was and I have until 2027 to have them look and eval the frame, I have three more years after that as a “goodwill” time line thanks to the CPO thing.

Okay, here are some images. Hard as the letter is two pages on one sheet... so it IS in parts as you will see.

OP, if it was mine, I'd take it to the dealer anyway, have them put it on the lift and talk it over.

I agree what you've been doing is better than the treatment they give. However, should their still be a failure, which can happen I suppose, they are going to 'follow the rules'.

Maybe they'd be willing to give you a spray over your fluid film, just so you'd be legit on the books. Maybe they'd enter you in the system as 'done', realizing what you have done is better than what they'd do. IF that's the case, get the documentation.

Either way, then keep doing what you're doing and hope you never need it.

This is exactly what I'm going to do, mine has been Fluid Filmed since new and I don't want that CRC crap on mine. Lift it up take a peek and call it done.

Tacoguy23, same deal. I got mine used last year. This covers the truck, not ownership.

Does this only cover trucks registered in 'cold weather' states or all trucks of the years covered?

I’m expecting the letter any day now for my 2015. I’m like you, I sprayed my frame with FF the day I brought it home and reapply every fall.

    Thanks @Clearwater Bill !!

To anyone thinking about not doing the CRC, read the sentence in red from the link Bill provided- if you don’t do it, you will NOT be eligible for frame replacement down the road.

No brainer IMHO. Just need to get my letter first.

Question to those who have received the letter, is the coverage transferrable if I choose to sell?

    Thanks!

Here’s another thread with the details on the program:

I'd guess it's only trucks delivered to, registered in, or predominantly used in the Toyota "cold weather states". That's pretty much how the Gen 1 frame program worked.

As my 2015 was originally delivered to and is currently registered in California, and is used in Missouri, I've heard nuthin' from Toyota and don't expect to.

Fluid Film for me. I had their treatment done to my 2001 DC, and while the internal waxy stuff seemed OK, the external black stuff seemed to dry out, start flaking off, and trap MORE moisture against the frame than nothing at all. I was wishing I hadn't done the treatment. On my Colorado-original 2003 and the California-original 2015, it'll only be FF.

Financial Question ..... Now that my 2012 truck is officially affected by this service campaign - to me it says to all that my frame "Might" rust out. Although the coverage of the frame is now extended to 12 years from first date of use, a buyer now officially knows he will be buying "One of Those" rusty frame Tacomas. IMO the value of my truck for resale or trade in has just been hit. Wasn't there class action suits in the past for previous years that compensated owners for loss of value ??? Just thinking out loud here .....

You would think so but the frame issue has been going on since the 1st Gens and the Tacoma has still maintained its value after all that.

Take a look at what some of the 1st Gens are going for and you'll see what I mean. Now if your trying to sell and your frame looks rusty then yes any educated buyer is going to be apprehensive on giving good money for it.

Not nice and not true. Crap steel used for the frames. IMO

Do you get your FF done at a local shop or DIY? My recently purchased 2015 is a native MO truck, and while my frame looks decent currently, I'm wanting to keep it that way.
