    The one i found is $45

    @Unchained 5150

    I’ll order it and a new thermostat since the temp sensor in it could also be bad.

    As for right now, i’m just going to get new nuts, stick the old sensor back in and seal the hole so i can at least drive it. I’d like to haul my dog to the groomers in this tomorrow

    That says excludes California so it’s for the federal emission exhaust. It also says downstream.

    I think you’re looking for upstream (was the one hanging down in the picture above both cats?)

    Also to completely backtrack. Have you tried just putting the sensor back in place, clearing the codes and then driving around? If that sensor is not in place while you drive it will throw those codes. It in fact may be fine/working and just throwing codes because it’s not attached.

    Codes don't necessarily tell you the correct part that's bad. Many codes put you towards a part of engine/fuel/air/exhaust system, then diagnosis is required to figure out what is actually the failed part. One of the most commonly incorrectly diagnosed code is PO420 which points towards a bad cat, but is often something else tripping the code, and often a much cheaper fix.

    Yeah good call. I meant more that you would replace once, have the code persist and then just think to replace the exact same part again haha. I would probably look elsewhere like you suggest if I replaced a sensor and had a code persist; in this case the harness, ECU, etc.

    Its getting horrible mileage and its passing power is down so i think the cats could be replaced.

    But i’m going to replace the sensor and see what happens. Its $115 :pout:

    I cleared the code and it came back on within two miles. Drove it another 30-40 miles and it burnt over 1/3rd a tank.

    Exact same symptoms I had before replacing the sensor. Awful gas mileage and rough idle. When the sensor is bad, it can’t read the air/fuel ratio and just dumps fuel to compensate.

    Replaced the sensor, wiped the codes and have had no problems since (knock on wood).
