    That won't work. The only filter which works in our trucks for the XP line up is the 51516XP.

    Yeah, I was surprised to see the Toyota filters in my Walmart last week, basically same price as the Fram filters. Was pretty much a no-brainer for me.

    I'm looking for a well built oil filter to remove the particulates that cause the most wear in my engine (+5 microns). The PurolatorOne and PurolatorBoss have the best specs that I have found.

    From the "bobistheoilguy.com" oil filter forum: "PureONE's (and PurolatorBoss) ISO 4548-12 for 5 micron is 50%, 10 micron is 92.8%, 15 micron is 99.2%, and 20 micron is 99.9%".

    Toyota makes a good filter, but they don't publish an ISO 4548-12 micron rating for their oil filters (at least not that I could find). If you know of published data, please share.

    Does anyone have a competitive filter that has as good, or better, micron filtration rating than these Purolator filters?

    I have no affiliation with Purolator, or any filter or oil producer.

    In God we trust, all others bring data.

    I have an 05 Tundra 4.0 V6. The oil filter housing drain plug won't come off. It just spins in place and the rubber dust cap seems stuck on too. Am I doing something wrong or is this normal for some of you?

    You should be able to unscrew the aluminum plug then screw in the drain cock to drain the housing. Once it is drained you can use the special housing wrench to unscrew the housing for the filter.

    I've never seen a rubber dust cap on this assembly...

    It sounds like he is talking about the 2nd gen 4.0 Tacoma set up with the rubber cap below the oil filter

    If he is referring to the Tacoma rubber plug, just use a screwdriver to work it off or cut it off. Then add a hose extension of your desired length and cap it off with a screw to make future oil changes easier.
