16 or 17 Inch

Looking for some help.

I have a 2019 Off Road and want to put new wheels on it.

I have narrowed it down between TRD Pro 17 inch (think this is what they call the 4runner) and 16 inch.

What would you go for and why?

From what little I know sounds as if 16 inch better for off road and 17 inch better because more tire choices. What else?

If I stay 16 inch can I mount my OEM tires since only 1,500 miles on them.

TRD 4runner Pro wheels are a great choice at 25lbs and will push the tires out to be flush with the fenders for a more aggressive stance while keeping the tires under the vehicle. 17" allows for more tire selection in lighter weight C-load tires. The 1/2" sidewall difference for "better off road" is relatively negligible in most cases. Something to consider for the 4runner Pro wheels is they are 7" wide, meaning some larger oversized tire sizes may be out of spec to mount to a 7" wide wheel.

Absolute BS on the off road performance, not enough difference to matter.

 

17's have way more choices.

Factory sizes the 16 is slightly better for offroading, but once youre in the 32"+ range it doesnt matter.

 

See now we are getting somewhere - I like the 17 rims but was thinking to save a buck staying with the 16 for OR performance (sounds as if no real difference) and hopefully using my stock tires since new.

I saw a picture of someone on here who put on the 17s and looks great.

 

Think I have made up my mind to go 17 but does anyone know if I go TRD Pro rims if I can just put on the stock tires?

 

I just went through the same decision making and chose the 17" TRD wheels because I wanted to run the largest C-rated BF Goodrich AT I could fit on my '19 OR. That overall size tire is only available in an E-rated in the 16", which is significantly heavier then the C. Power and MPG are important to me so that made my decision easy. The lighter weight equals better power and fuel consumption.

No, a 16" tire will fit a 16" wheel only.

Yes 16" pro's come with the exact same tires as the Offroad model. Goodyear Adventures.

The 17" 4runner Pro's come with Terra Graplers. (P metric)

of course there are other c-rated options available in 16", but I'm an unapologetic BFG AT fanboy.

Stock suspension. Tire size is 265/70/17. I will eventually do a small 1 - 2 inch lift, which will still look good with that size tire.

I personally have 17's but prefer the look of 16's. Less tire seems to look like more with 16's on these trucks IMO.

17 inch wheel. 265/70/17.

I was going back and forth between the 16 and 17 too, but pretty happy with my decision.
