I really need to do the chalk test. I did some quick research and settled on 37 up front and 36 rear.

I only have about 12k on my ties and wear seems pretty good.

I know I have read some 3rd gen stockers running this size. Might want to check the 3rd gen forums. Too lazy to search right now. :p

Me too. I’ve been running in the mid to upper 30 psi range on my load C. I may be be way to high according to some of what I’m reading here.

I think 35ish is safe but a lot will come down to your vehicle weight and the tire construction. T4R folks seems to run 35-40psi and they are on average heavier than the Taco. You probably have a little more room for error with a skinny tire too. Less tread width to deform.

Stupid question: ( i googled it first but no luck)

Do the TDR models have more ground clearance than the SR & SR5? I know the shocks are better but is the height different too?

    Thanks :D

I tried 30/31 and the ride, while more forgiving, was terrible. Truck tracked all over the place, hard to steer, felt like I lost 30 horsepower and was always fighting with it to go. 36 PSI and it's harsher but its nimble, tracks straight, power and fuel economy are way way better.

That’s why I’ve been hesitant to go down. I actually tried all the way up to 44. It was really harsh and jittery but tracked a little better. In WA they allow studs and chains so our roads are so rutted out I can’t go in a straight line anyway.

What is available for aftermarket wheels that work with skinnies? A lot of what I see are 8" wide and it would be nice to stay with 7" width if I were to get different wheels. I found a seller that showed some Volks ($$$$!!!) but when I contacted them they said it was discontinued.

OEM toyota is your best bet as far as quality and size specs. Not much out there otherwise.

only 10 000km and the tires look almost new. I’m sure the center is wearing faster, but I’m willing to give up a years tire wear to have a better driving experience for the 5 years it takes to wear out.

I have 16x8 0 offset and they work well. 17x8 0 offset would be the same. Lots of choices in these sizes.

If you decide to stick with the 17x9 Ray10s check my photos. The 17x8.5 makes the sidewalls sit nearly straight up and down, so with that 17x9 you're much more likely to have your wheel sticking out enough to get some damage on it from rocks or even a tall curb. That amount of offset will also make the rub a lot worse. I don't have a lift yet, but I imagine you'll need to still do some cutting with such a wide offset. You'll also be poking pretty good outside the fenders.

The 17xx8.5s fit nicely though. I think you'd do fine with either one. I love the Rays.
