For those that have had the coating done and started coming off, did you take it back to the dealer to get it re-done? There's a couple spots on mine where it has come off and what looks like severe rust building up under it. Pretty much de-laminating in that spot now. Also the portion of the frame where the cab mounts (front passenger) is so soft I barely hit it with a hammer and it dented. It's not a hole yet, but super soft. Not to mention a shittone of rust came out.

Tried and it doesn’t go through. So probably won’t fail.

Well since youve got 2 more years on the frame warranty, Id say you'll definetly get a new one in that timeframe. Take it in if you want, they may fail it anyways if its really as bad as you say.

Received my letter today about the rust corrosion issue. My Tacoma is an 2012. Was told in letter shortly I'll be receiving information about a Limited Service Campaign to apply Corrosion Resistant Compound for free and a frame inspection. If frame flunks I get new frame. My frame is badly rusted in places but no holes, yet. I live in snow belt on Lake Erie. I'll post more when I have more information.

NOTE: This letter only pertained to 2011-2017 certain model Tacoma. And covered only certain states that have corrosion issues.

I know this thread hasn't been replied to in a couple days, but I digress..

In reference to the CRC causing issues, took a couple pics to give you all a heads up of what you might encounter...

(you can see there's plenty more rust bubbling under...)

Hasn't been even driven in salt yet. This stuff simply does not work. I feel this is completely unacceptable. Several attempts to get ahold of the service manager with no calls back. Guess I'll have to show up in person.

_DSC0002 (2).jpg P1080585.jpg I am also in a 2006 access cab, but bought mine from Vermont in 2008 and brought back to Canada, it had 8,000 miles on it at the time. Had it inspected in 2016 at the local dealership here. It passed and sprayed it, they told me no worries. Changing the tire in the driveway in April 2019 and found the big hole in the frame and lots of rot. Went right into the dealer same day, but they told me the warranty ran out on January 31, 2019 missed it like by 63 days. Still fighting but I doubt if I can get anything out of them. Shame as only 73,000 miles on it and the rest is perfect.

Toyota dealer just told me I had a rust hole on my 2006 while in for an oil change. I had the frame sprayed 4 years ago and was told that should alleviate any rust issues so did not have the frame replaced. Had my truck into Toyota several times during the frame replacement period and they never said anything about any frame issues and suddenly shortly after it has expired they mention I have this hole in the frame. Called Toyota today since I felt mislead about the frame spraying resolution and was told they will not do anything to remedy.

So my Tacoma a 2011 double cab short bed does that qualify for the frame recall I know it says to 2010 but I'm getting rust holes in my cab mount

These types of postings hurt to read and shouldn't happen on a Toyota product. We buy a Toyota because of the perceived quality that is engineered in and we expect to last longer than 13 years...SAD! :(

I had my frame inspected in Canada July 4th and approved about July 19th. The service manager said he would call me when my frame is built and shipped. I haven’t heard anything yet.

I bought an 07 back in August when I first moved to GA. The truck spent around 30k miles in CT before it came over to GA. I had no idea about the rust problems for Tacomas when I bought it. I popped my head under the truck to check it out and there was some surface rust but didn't think anything of it. I took it for its first service and my mechanic put it up on a lift. He said its bad.. worst he has seen. I talked to my local dealership who deferred to Toyota customer service. They said there is nothing that they can do because it has been 12 years from the day of first use. Is this true? Am I really stuck with a truck I just shelled out for and its frame can break at anytime while I'm driving? Its only got 90k on the odo.

Yep. This is why you should always have a complete vehicle inspection done before you buy any vehicle. Sorry to hear about your situation.

yes that is about exactly what happend to me. ive owned it a year.bought it with 90K it lived most of its life in Northern Canada and after i got in a small fender bender the body shop here in Oregon were amazed at how bad it was... i spent 3 hours with Toyota USA and Toyota Canada and they told me it was too late to do the frame it was out of service because it was too many years before it was reported...... and now we are both stuck wit our rusty framed trucks

Yeah I realize that. I just moved here and didn't bring a vehicle with me so I needed something quick to start working. I've always heard that Tacomas were among the best pickups so I just pulled the trigger on what I thought was a decent deal.
