So Toyota covers the rental fees for the whole duration that they have the truck in the shop?

This is on me agreement so I just wasn’t sure if the $175 max indicated that’s the maximum Toyota will cover a vehicle for me. I appreciate the feedback though, it clears things up for me.

My 2nd gen leaked from the timing cover as well and that was the ultra super reliable legendary 2.7 l4.

Look around the underside of the power steering pump, if you have a leak that's usually where it collects.

still surprised they need to remove the engine. unless they pulled a ford move and you have to remove the oil pan to get the timing cover off. I would be very disappointed to see that.

Any reason why removing engine for this fix would affect programming in the ECM? Had TSB 0077-16 done a year ago that flashed the computer for better shift points and it feels like that is gone since the oil leak was fixed.

How much extra did that cost? My buddy is getting a new taco soon, and I may do the same in a few years.

It was $1895 so no small chunk but obviously worth it with my situation . Also it is 5 years not ten like I stated above.

well if i do have that issue im not officially fixing it. Ill clean the surface and apply some permitex on where i think its leaking. Ive had old vehicles and they all leaked a little oil here and there, 5 dollars vs 2k fix.

normally they will, when mine was in for more than a week, I had to go back after a few days
and do a new write up on the rental to "renew" it for the extended period.

A dealer quoted me $2800 for the 4.0 V6 timing cover oil leak(same issue back then and identical fix). This price is for SoCal in Ventura county. A private party shop quoted me $1800 for the same work.

I've got the same thing. 76k on the clock. I'll be bringing it to the dealer soon enough.

Seriously, the float and points - I replaced ours at 125k not too long ago. It ran really well afterwards.

On mine they pulled the engine out and tore it down and replaced every single gasket I can think of when they did mine so I’m thinking maybe even more than 3k.
