Whats up TW! Need your help here. A little info on my truck. 2017 DBLCAB OR 4WD A/T. Truck is built as semi daily/pre-runner running Solo Motorsports LT kit.

To utilize all the potential travel the kit offers I had to have a custom intake built so the UCA wouldn't hit the air box. Had the intake built by MP intakes in SoCal.

Now that that's done I want to work on some engine performance. Not ready for FI just yet because its so new to the market for these trucks and I would upgrade the rear end before introducing that kind of power to the truck. Just looking for a good dump tube, y pipe and exhaust combo.

For those of you who have already done some or all of these mods what are you running now? What's working for you and what should I stay away from? TIA!!!

Start with OV Tune, obviously. Find either manual specific or generic(auto-specific) topic in this forum and go from there. In there and on their website you will also find info on dump tubes and even twin-turbo in develoment.

That is a nice introduction to Tacoma you got going on there!

I forgot to mention the truck is already OV Tuned. I'm on a older version of the tune (1.04) but will update as soon as I have some time. The truck has been out of my possession for the last eight months during the build. I'm also geared at 5.29 and still in the break in process.

Too bad it uses a K&N air filter. They're well known for their inefficiency hence their nickname "rock catchers".

If you’re in Cali, you don’t have many options if any. Otherwise I’d go for the OVTune dump tubes or just wait for forced induction.

    Too few to list.
Hmmm... When I see "custom" and "Y-pipe" I immediately think of this from @Roostfactor

I recommend waiting for forced induction. Right now it’s a race between OVTune’s twin turbos and supercharger, URD’s supercharger, and Magnusson’s supercharger

I'm gonna wait on FI since it's so new to these motors. Truck produces good power just want to help it breathe a little better. Any difference between OV's dump tubes and URD's?

FI isn’t new to these motors at all, Lexus has virtually the same motor already twin turboed, it just has a different name. I think the URD tubes are just cat deletes and OVTunes tubes either have OME cats or no cats but you also get a tune with them. Just the tubes alone will make you lose power and torque so I would go with OVTune tubes

Gotcha...So if I go with OV's tubes and tune I'm assuming adding a upgraded Y pipe would make sense as well?

It would, especially since OVTune mentioned there’s a big bottleneck at the factory Y-pipe

I don’t see why not, the connecting rods in these trucks are forged from the factory. Only thing better would be billet but that’s a lot of $$ for a company that doesn’t like having extra costs
