So who has this and is running a winch? Which winch do you run? So the harbor freight 12k is back to 299 with a coupon but not water proof. Smittybuilt x20 is waterproof and has a synthetic rope for 500.
    Decisions decisions.

Time to stop having to worry about bending the tyger bull bar each time.

I’ll stick a set of calipers on it and shoot a pic when I get some time. Main bumper, brackets, and winch carrier are all at least 1/4” plate. I suspect they are talking about the “hoop” piece that holds the light bar. If it were constructed if 8 gauge, it wouldn’t be over 100 lbs.

Not to split hairs, but that is the package weight, which includes the heavy box and 1/2” of chipboard across The bottom.

Not sure what you mean by mounting bolt pattern. Instructions are a couple of posts up. I would recommend getting all bolts just snug and slap a 2x6 between the bottom of bumper and flat spot on bottom of the truck, with your floor jack under it. This allows you to adjust all axes and get it perfect. Then snug everything down.

    Thanks for the installation tips!

I meant for mounting a winch - most winches have a 10" x 4.5" mounting bolt pattern. I just wanted to make sure that this bumper will match that.

Decided to pull the trigger on this bumper last Sunday on Columbus Day Weekend and it was shipped to the east coast and arrived here on Friday.

    • Weight 103 lbs / 46.72 kgs
    • Dimensions 49x17x16 in.

    IMG_20191018_112257629_HDR.jpg

Packed extremely well from its Mexican factory with expanding foam: IMG_20191018_112411137_HDR.jpg IMG_20191018_112506840_HDR.jpg

And even a piece of wood to make it really sturdy!IMG_20191018_172029979.jpg

    IMG_20191018_180412179.jpg

The bumper itself came in at roughly 55lbs on garage scale
    IMG_20191018_153448952.jpg

The winch mount at around 27lbs
    IMG_20191018_153547871.jpg

Thickness of the winch mount is 6.5mm and a lot more thicker than the what is holding the 6 bolts.

    IMG_20191018_154813001.jpg

Someone had asked about the mounting pattern:

    IMG_20191018_154901623.jpg

Not sure why this is upside down; keeps flipping upon uploadingIMG_20191018_154939114.jpg IMG_20191018_154959746.jpg

    Super easy installation for sure
    IMG_20191018_161004758.jpg

So which frame reinforcement brackets would fit this setup:
    IMG_20191018_161011506.jpg

My power steering relocation brackets were missing at first but we actually taped to the fold on the bumper protection stuff. Don't just rip everything off and trash; make sure the brackets are not in there somewhere.

Ended up using a spacer as well on the drivers side bolt to get the bracket to clear the cooler lines. Its not mentioned in their instructions but looking closely it can be seen that they elevated the drivers side also to clear lines.
    IMG_20191018_162228207.jpg IMG_20191018_162928550.jpg

The bumper has three holes up top to drill a screw through to tighten the bumper snuggly to the bumper. I recommend you tape up the plastic top part of the bumper so it doesn't get scratched up like mine did. Fitment is a little off; I am also slightly lopsided like the ebay pictures if you look super close from the front angle.
    IMG_20191018_171225212.jpg
    IMG_20191018_171241777_HDR.jpg

Had measured before and after installing the bumper and the height had not changed for me.
    IMG_20191018_152346411.jpg

The wheel liner will be loose so ziptie both sides into the holes shown
    IMG_20191018_172923627.jpg IMG_20191018_173038645.jpg

So far I am questioning the ability to safely use a winch that is mounted without bending the front end. There are frame reinforcement brackets out there but I doubt that any will fit without making major modifications to this setup.

Buyer beware unless DV8 can advise otherwise....

I didn’t have to use a spacer. I pushed the lines up as tightly as I could, then tightened bracket down.

To line up bumper perfectly, I , threw a 2x6 here with a floor jack in the middle of it with everything a smidge tighter than finger tight. This gets you dead nuts level with the truck, and then you can change height with the jack, and get fore aft/ side to side/ and overall angle adjustment. Looks like you may need to remove the factory skid so you’ll have a flat surface there. I have an aftermarket skid plate so it’s easier. Don’t tighten bolts until you’re dialed in.

As far as strength, I don’t see how this bracket is any more/ less likely to tweak frame than any others that are commercially available. If concerned, it would be easy to tack it after it’s all lined up perfectly, then weld the mounts to bumper/ winch carrier and possibly throw in some gusseting?

This light fits perfectly in the hole and is pretty damn bright. It’s no doubt an import and commercially available by other names. Looks very similar to the one that Caliraised sells. Best price I found was Jegs and it does not come with any wiring. Just purchased harness switch from Caliraised today to complete install.

Slotted mounting ears are already inside of the mounting hole so just need to slide it in and tighten.

Just a heads up, I spoke with DV8 yesterday about adding a Warn Zeon 8S to this bumper, and they said it will not fit because the winch is too long and wide. It did not have to do with relocating the solenoid pack.

Most other bumpers had some sort of frame tie in that would allow the "load" to be transferred to the frame with some sort of gusseting. The current design of the 90 degree angle bracket wouldn't allow any gussets to be installed since it protrudes past the 3 bolts on each side.

    Like:

    or
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...t-frame-support-bracket-install-guide.467667/

The C4 might be modifiable by cutting down the lower lip and welding it onto this bumper but my welding skills aint that professional.

Had ordered this dual light bar from the jungle shop:
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07GTL2CTD

    IMG_20191022_201937041.jpg
While installing I dropped the bolts and washers in the crevice for the bar mount so make sure to stuff some rags in there so you don't need to borrow someone elses hands and fingers that are small.

This also brought up another flaw of this bumper which is that the crevice is not painted at all and collects water. When using the air gun trying to get the bolts out I had rusty water spray everywhere.
    IMG_20191022_190257584.jpg

So far its been buyers remorse for this bumper as far as design/engineering goes to make it actually function as a winch bumper. Will try to take some daytime pictures of everything. Plate is also just ziptied since the bumper didn't have predrilled plate holes.

Got the notification for eBay saying 4 left, checked & it was the last one I was super hesitant, but couldn’t miss out the chance of buying a winch bumper down the road. Bought the last one, can’t wait to install it, here is my TRD OR. So far pictures online look great! Can’t beat it for $345.00!

Finally got around to the install! Looks beast. Made it as level as I could for a late night no light install. Happy with it for now, wondering about license plate mounting.
