I’m not arguing either side. The model I like to own is only available as an AT where I live, so MT isn’t even an option for me, unless I want an access cab, or a SB Sport, so it’s not about choice in my case.

MT drivers just want to play with their sticks in peace. Is that too much to ask?

While they are very vegany/herbalife-y I have to agree with them that driving standard is pretty nice. I use OVTune with gear lock and I find myself usually moving the gears around myself. Mostly 4 and 5th.

I rowed gears for over twenty years and after I sold my first gen my rowing days are over. I did have two short stints with autos in that time.

About the only Tacoma i'd get now with a manual is a 2nd gen RC 4WD just because there's something about them. It might have been the last pure utility Tacoma

I got goosebumps. This is The first time you’ve said something nice about a base model.

I’m totally happy rowing gears with my 2.7 5spd. She’s a pig without 4.88s with 285s, but it’s not horrible - gears & lockers coming soon and she’ll be better than stock and peppy.

I still stand by my statement that the 3rd gen SR is a poor value for what is costs.

The 2.7 should have ended when the 2nd gen RC stopped production

Well I tried using essential oil to make the cab of my manual transmission Tacoma smell better but it didn’t work as well as I hoped. Few drops of cedar on a clothespin thats clipped to a vent. Smells good for a couple days then you need to reapply

Yay and nay. I got into an arguably more reliable powertrained Tacoma for 12k less than a new v6 would cost (bought it with 25k on it).

With that being said, I’d probably trade it for a single cab 2nd gen 2.7 with low mileage in a heartbeat

Those low mile RC 4WD single cabs are holding value pretty well. Some dealers are damn near asking close to what they sold for new in 15

Garth " @Itchyfeet " Blevins cut his teeth on the shameful side of the tracks in Stockton,CA. His youth was spent wishing he smelled less like the caked on cow shit clinging to his father's hand-me-down New Balances and more like Shelly Pierson's cheap ass "Charlene's Will" parfum de toilette. But alas, he wasn't ever allowed to luxuriate in the searing joy of Shelly's touch. He was, instead, touched rather forcefully and with somewhat less than passionate zeal by Vera Gribble's generous mitts. He met Vera in the welding class at San Joaquin Community College. He would reluctantly donate semen to her uterus and be forced by her shotgun wielding father into a joyless and sometimes painful and shame filled marriage. The choices he was allowed to make through the years would involve what he bought her for birthday, Christmas, and anniversaries. And they better be the right goddamn ones. He always dreamed of a manual transmission Toyota Tacoma, but alas, Vera wasn't a fan of the stick so it wasn't a choice he was allowed (though she enjoyed handling all of his friends' sticks with some kind of fanatical zeal).

These days (when he's allowed free time after his 12 hour day in the stockyards), he slumps in his shredded itchy cloth computer chair, pantomiming that joyous three pedal MT dance in front of his cracked computer monitor. He closes his eyes, slips his hand around the old Flight 1998 joystick he uses as a mock shift lever, and after pulling down into imaginary 4th gear, reaches over in his minds eye and slides his hand onto Shelly Pierson's thigh just above her knee, breathing slowly in through his nose taking in that old familiar scent...

He's jarred out of his joyful reverie by the sound of Vera being slammed up against the thin wall of the double-wide repeatedly by his grade school bully, Keith Fairfield who's father owns a private jet. Garth's eyes open and his hands slide instead over the old, familiar (slightly greasy) grey dirt rimmed keys and he begins to type, with a half crazed soulless smile on his face:

"Are manual transmission owners like the crossfitters / essential oils of TW"

Agree to disagree, as per the usual. I think they did it proper in those last few years, as a 6 lug.

I did look real quick and surprisingly enough I see thread after thread after thread
about people complaining about the automatic transmission about shifting issues and engine RPMS related to this issue, even some selling their trunk
    because of this issue.

Didn’t see much about the Manual transmission tho,

Which is exactly what I said. No failures, just complaining about programmed shift points.
