So I did a full overhaul of my rear brakes about a month ago. 155k and the original pads were finally done. I did New drums, pads, and most of the hardware all around was replaced. The only thing that was swapped over was a few of those metal levers and I did not change the brake cylinders. I adjusted them to where I wanted them it drove great for about 10 days then I started to notice the parking brake pedal was going softer and softer and engaging less. Another 5-6 days went by and it wouldn't engage at all. So I went back in and looked things over didn't see anything that looked off. I readjusted them all the way tight then backed out 15 clicks which seems to be the sweet spot. Another 10 days has gone by and its getting softer again it just will not hold the adjustment it backs off and gets too loose. I tightened them up again this weekend but I don't want to keep having to do this. Any ideas on what might be my issue?

The star adjuster should not back off unless the ratcheting arm is not engaging correctly. If the parking brake pedal is getting soft and not engaging then I suspect that something is not installed quite right. A while back I did a full refresh of my brakes because my parking brake didn't hold the truck. I did the pads and that did not help so I also replaced all those lever arms.

Shit bolted onto other shit, and junk.
x2 on this, I am willing to bet the adjuster is backwards and needs to be flipped around. One side is longer than the other and if installed incorrectly it will not engage to hold tension on the brake shoes.

Are the electric ones better than the gas powered ones?

You can play with that all day no thanks

When I melted a wrench clean in half working on an electric golf cart, I decided that day that working with electricity would forever be left to the professionals.

and yes, I did shit myself

“Better” is a matter of opinion. Depends on the rink and cut schedule, this one is on an Olympic size rink, so not ideal, but it works.

this is the only electric I work on, I have 5 LP powered machines with VW, Hyundai and Kubota power

and yet they let me work on this stuff......

Apparently if you arc two of the batteries with a wrench while they are all connected, shit melts at the speed of light. Made a real big boom and when I looked down my wrench was half gone. Wish that was the days of cell phone videos cause I’m sure it was entertaining
