"it has been smoking significantly upon startup."
i see it stops smoking about 1/2 thru the 15sec. video. this means the issue is in the top end, most likely valve seals as you have stated.
PCV valve also ? take it back to the dealer ASAP, like this week, tomorrow, and tell them you want the valve seals replaced.
NOT the f'in rings, geez people.

I wouldn't let them put any kind of additive / treatment in my motor if I planned on keeping the vehicle , no f--ing way.

dont run anything in it and get it diagnosed first

100% looks like valve stem seals. Dealer will charge you 1200 -1500 ish for fix, independent would be something like 400 - 900 to fix.

They guy who traded it probably thought the motor was bad or something, also double check it doesnt it isnt massively overfilled with oil

The bad thing is they probably already have added something to the oil trying to hide it .

Wow, already 4 pages on this thread. Idk OP, looks pretty normal to me :notsure: doesn't hurt to being it in the the service department to see what they say, but as the temps get cooler its pretty normal to have see some exhaust come out. It goes away too so I dont see what all the fuss in this thread is about. If it were an oil or antifreeze leak, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't go away after warm up...

Sooo, anyone else have that many miles on their 3rd gen v6? Anyone else see this with their truck? 77k is a goodly amount on a 3 year old truck.
I also suspect valve seals, just wonder why. My experience is seals wear when guides get worn and that usually happens at higher miles, at least on rocker shaft motors. I have seen a motor leave the factory without valve seals, but that was GM and along time ago.

That shit messed up the engine in my poor old Tundra 4.7. It had 170k on it and didn’t burn any oil, then my stupid ass saw lucas in auto zone saying it helped old engines last longer. So I got some and put it in at the next oil change. It knocked so bad for the first minute or two on cold start once it started getting cold outside. Back then I didn’t know much about vehicles and thought it was just piston slap, until I changed the oil without lucas and it went away. From that point forward it had very low oil pressure at idle and I think a collapsed lifter. I had to run 10w-40 in it just to keep oil pressure at acceptable levels. That poor old v8 was still so tight after 170k hard miles, the Lucas was just too thick to flow at all. NEVER EVER put Lucas in any modern engine, it’s only made for old sbc’s that burn like a quart every 100 miles...lol

Still worth checking the PCV first IMO (quick, easy, and free to do), then yeah, if not that, move to the next thing (valve stem seals).

And that's when I'd be taking it in to get checked out if it were my truck, not for a tiny bit of exhaust on start up... something to keep an eye on for sure

If it were water vapor it would take longer after starting from cold to show up. This is basically instant, which tells me it's burning in the combustion chamber. Since it makes more smoke when sitting overnight, that leads me to valve stem seals since it has time for more oil to leak into the cylinders.

Smoke on start up is an indication of worn valve guides or worn valve stem seals . If you notice smoke on acceleration or deceleration that's an indication of worn rings
