I just bought an 07 Tacoma, Double Cab, 4WD, Manual with the TRD Off Road Package and I wanted to introduce myself. I've been reading this forum for about a month now and it has been tremendously helpful in my purchase decision. Now I'm reading it to get ideas on what to spend my money on next. And a big thanks to the Admin for keeping such an informative site running smoothly.

Welcome to TW world. Thank tcBob for running such a good site and choosing good moderators like 007tacoma to keep it that way. Post some pics and start jumping in on conversations!

Welcome to TW! You can thank tcBob and Banshee for the smooth running site. I am still getting used to the ropes. They catch things before I realize what is going on. ;)

    Yes, please!

Contrary to the popular quote, Murphy's Law states: brown-nosing will get you everywhere.

    Well thank you tcBob!

I upload two pictures in the members gallery. Hopefully soon I will be able to post some offroading pics. I just switched vehicles from a 1995 honda civic, so I always had to ride shotgun when offroading. I'm looking forward to being in the drivers seat.

Just a heads up, in the near future I plan on installing a carputer. I have extensive experience building computers, but limited experience installing stereo's, so we'll see how it goes. I'll definitely take as many pictures as possible and post them all when I'm done.

I would be particularly curious to see how you would interface to the OBDII BR-CAN interface, and what protocol and application you use to interface with the onboard computers. As far as installing stereos on an 05+, this is a good starting point...

Well... Since I'm not sure what OBDII BR-CAN is, I might be up a creek. One of my friends did a full install of a carputer in his audi years before I knew him, so I will be recruiting his help.

From my understanding (which is limited), All I need in the dash is a touchscreen to interface with XP on the computer (probably located behind the back seats). My friend uses RoadRunner as a front end software to tie together his music player, gps software, etc. Oh yeah, Road Runner is free and so is the source code. I am a software engineer so I will probably customize some of the software. After that I just need an RCA output to a 4 way amp to feed the speakers.

I know this is an extremely simple explination, but thats why I have a friend with more knowledge than me, so I can ask questions!

I was unaware that Banshee was a mod.... i guess since he doesn't have a cool little title like "super moderator" under his handle i couldnt tell.

as far as brown nosing.... i figure i make fun of you so much i have to kiss up a little bit every once in a while.... just to keep from being banned.

BTW, i'm still wating on some kind of cool title to go underneath my handle

He is probably using VAG-COM to interface into the VW/Audi Control Module through an OBD interface. I know that there are quite a few people using that for their Volkswagen TDIs. I would have, but mine had over 200K miles on it, and then I sold it. Keep us up to date as you learn new stuff. You definitely have my interest! ;)

Once I get the funding for this little project/learning exprience approved by my wife, you guys will be the first to know. I guess there is a little more involved than I thought on the technical side. I'll do as much research as I can, then once funding is approved, probably start a thread on the project.

Thanks again for being so helpful.

I dunno, you're the super moderator, something badass. Maybe "The very handsome, fatally sexy founder of the Caorlina Alliance".....

I tried putting that in there, but it won't fit. You may have to get tcBob to do it. He has more power than I do. He had to put mine in too, as it is also too long. :(

thats just low 007, i cant believe you are making fun of us poor uneducated Carollinians. You know we're ranked like 49th or 50th in education (at least here in SC). That meens me dont spel so good. I ain't even not knowin how to spel where i done live at.

Seriously though, try putting "Carolina Alliance" under my handle and see if that works. i need to get some awareness for my group. When this site is big enough for regions, i want the Carolina Alliance to be the official Carolina chapter of TW! I see lots of Carolinians on this site but i only have a few members so far. Although i will say that the members i do have are the laziest, most unmotivated, drunkest, Texan haters anyone could ever ask for, and i'm so proud of them for that :)

I wish I could, but really tcBob is the only one that can change that. :( I tried to change it to "Carolina Alliance Founder", but it just kicks back "Senior Member". PM Bob - He will change it for you! :)
