Count me in as well. It's been a while since I've been on the trails.

Chestnut Mtn looks like under an hour: https://www.google.com/maps/place/C...2!3m1!1s0x88f5ee033e3494d7:0xb2500ad7764b1de9

I couldn't find the latter, can you send a link?

So does that mean that neither of you are interested in Hurricane Creek?

Assuming that is the case, are there any trails closer that you had in mind?

I’m game for going out, I’m loading up firewood right now. There’s always Durham town. Not sure what tails are open. If we go to hurricane I’ll leave tomorrow after work.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
I love this area. If I were to live in SC this would be the place. I ride my motorcycles all over this area.
Very pretty this time of year. I just drove back they this coming back from NC not long ago.

I'm in this weekend, whether it's Hurricane creek, AOP, Nemo, Chestnut, whatever. I'd rather it be closer than 3 hours though, I'm in this for a day trip and don't want to camp. 3+ hours away is more or less the camping threshold for me. Anything past and I'll want to camp, but I have plans Sunday, so I can't camp.

That said, I would prefer something closer this weekend if we can. It looks like Chestnut Mountain Road / Musterground / the whole Gorges State Park area is a bit under 3 hours for me. That's 1.5 hours less driving round-trip for me.

Alternatively, I saw @iK0NiK post in another thread:
The above is 2 hours from me. Even more better. How does 163 or Musterground sound? If none of that sounds good, there's a ton of options here: https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/v...o&ll=34.13398998376575,-83.66564668749999&z=9 - though it looks a bit out of date, exploring is fun.

I ran FSR 163 two weeks ago. It's good to go. I even cleared out a couple narrow sections of the trail so you guys wouldn't scratch your rides up . I started on the east end off of Popcorn Rd (HERE), then worked northwest to come back out on Hwy 76. Going that route, there's 3 tricky uphill sections that are pretty rutted. I 3 wheeled it in one section but nothing so sketchy that I felt unsafe. Should be no problem for any of you guys. Took me about 1 hour total, which included only a couple of small breaks.

If you continue north up Hwy 76, Charlie's Creek is only about 15 minutes away.

Not sure how to read this. Do you mean "I have no plans to join you." or "I have no plan. Let's go!"

Ok. I'll try to dedicate some time today to figure out a route. Leaning toward Musterground right now based on the responses.

    Come on.

High probability we will go that direction. Hopefully you are available as none of us have been there before.

Potentially camping off of Horsepasture tonight but send me a PM if Musterground happens and I will try to be there!

I won't be too much help besides the first 6-8 miles unfortunately. Last weekend was my only trip and I only had a few hours total for in and out.

Very cool area though! Lots to explore.
