im trying to get my buddy to move down there. he wants to move to eugene oregon. not too far atleast. from our googling on the ipod touch i just bought ;) at the bar last night we came up with about a 2 hour distance to where he wants to live and it looks like a smaller town than sacramento (which im considering heavily), but more white people (looked up demographics just to compare). i live in a town that has everything so that doesnt make much difference to me though. main advantage is the average house prices are 100K less. but...if the town is that much worse, then it doesnt really matter.

Don't know about crime stats, but it is just very "country" there is not a whole lot to do there and if you think Sacramento gets hot, you haven't felt hot until you have visited Redding. Last time I went up that way camping it was 113, that's a little too much for me.

Crime stats info I found... http://www.cityrating.com/citycrime.asp?city=Redding&state=CA

It's beautiful up in that area. I'm fond of Weaverville (motorcycling). The 299 to Eureka and highway 3 was pure motorcycle heaven. Not much in the way of population though if you're looking for work. I do love San Diego though. For a big city, it's a nice area.
