Whiteline LCA bushings

I purchased whiteline's lca bushings that they advertise on their website for second gen tacomas, somewhere around $170 for the kit. They looked like very high quality poly bushings. Unfortunately, the tolerances were off. It took me several hours to even get one started going back in the arm because it kept slipping to one side or the other. About halfway through pressing it in, the bushing sleeve crumpled putting an end to my endeavor.



Since I needed my truck the next day, I ended up biting the bullet and bought some moog lca's from a local napa. I just wanted to post this as a warning to those who may be considering the whitelines - do so at your own risk. Honestly if these moogs only last a year I'd gladly take the 45 minutes to throw new ones in again as opposed to the 8 hours I wasted on trying to reuse the factory arm which is the exact same thing anyways.

I'm curious if anyone here has tried and successfully pressed the whitelines into their arms. I read a thread on here that made them sound like the best option, but after my problem I found several people who claimed they never fit.

I have 2 sets that I was going to use Whitelines with, but now I am going to use Moog bushings.

W53312 is what I used without issue

 

I paid a mechanic machine shop near me to press them in after fucking up my first set because I’m an idiot. I reached out to white line to see if they’d sell me just the two bushings and they sent me a whole set for free. Reach out to them

 

@DrFunker you have pressed in a few sets of these without issue correct

 

Have done two sets of LCAs using these bushings. No problems.

edit: Freezer method.

 

Tips/Tricks? Heat control arm/Freezer Bushing overnight? What about applying a small dose of anti-seize or armor all prior to pressing in the bushing?

 

Ouch, what were you using as a press sleeve?

 

Yes, put the bushings in the freezer.
I do use anti-seize. Very light coat inside the eye.

 

Just like @DrFunker said. Put them in the freezer over night. Leave them in there till you're ready to press them in. Absolutely makes a difference.

 

An improperly sized press sleeve from a ball joint rental kit and a hammer.....like I said, stupid move. I was just hoping to get it started enough to get the rental press kit Over it.

The smaller set I pressed in myself with my little homemade sleeves and worked perfectly.

 

Haha yea I used completely inappropriate "tools" to do mine, but it did work, no heating or freezing here.. I still want to make a set of sleeves the exact correct size. I've got the measurements but haven't gotten around to getting the metal.

 

I use a grade 8 bolt, a socket and a shit ton of washers to "pull" the bushing through.
Plenty of lube to keep the bolt moving smoothly.
