Need to upgrade my fog lights to something with a nice amber color for winter/mountain driving this year, I can't decide between upgrading the bulb to an amber color or replacing the fog light assembly with an LED kit. I've seen a handful of posts but nothing too helpful.

I have seen the Diode Dynamics and Baja Designs LED fog light kits and a few standard and LED replacement bulbs. They all look ok, the question is if the extra cost for the LED pods is worth it?

If you've upgraded fogs to new bulb or LED pod what do you have? How do you like it?

I went with the KC amber fog lights. I like them, but I hear you get better performance from the white KC fogs with an amber film overtop

I did LED bulbs in yellow, they lasted about 2 months before one went out. Not sure if just crappy bulbs or due to -30 degree weather when I was using them.

I just installed the caliraised fog light brackets with their 3x2 amber pods, really happy with the look and the output over my stock fogs. Yeah I have a second gen but I'm sure amber led fogs would be awesome on your third gen

Smart Move, which bulbs did you get? any brighter than stock?

Ya those KCs are badass, $330 though? any way to get them for any less?

Ya they were probably just cheap, LEDs typically run best at cold temps. Maybe super cold temps will break them but I don't think so. I think I'm leaning away from the LED bulbs right now.

Ya those are sick, looks like you can use it with any LED pod as well right?

The quality of the light, and pattern projected from the G4’s justifies the expense to me. They are not like the Chinese knock-offs.

Mine have not shipped yet from black fri purchase. Said "ships by Dec 13th" for the sports, but now says the "20th" for sports and "Ships by Jan 10th" for the pros.

    I'm leaning hard towards these.

I haven't seen much reviews on these, I'll have to write one up.

Stock wattage, just amber color. I did order them on Amazon since no place here in town had them on the shelf.

They are brand new to the market so there is not going to be much at the moment. No need to review yourself because @crashnburn80 will be doing a thorough review with.... SCIENCE! Seriously he is the aficionado and his reviews and info in the lighting world are phenomenal. Check the official thread here https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/the-led-sae-j583-fog-pod-fog-light-review.554813/
He said his diagnostics for the Diodedynamics will be up asap.

I ordered the yellow fog lights from them. They were released just before Black Friday. Most of them have not shipped out yet. A lot of people are really looking forward to installing these.

Long read, but a ton of good info here, unfortunately he does not compare the KC G4 in amber to the others.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/the-led-sae-j583-fog-pod-fog-light-review.554813/

Also food for thought that is discussed in that thread is the use of fogs in snow/icy weather that LED replacements dont generate a lot of forward heat which can cause icing over vs a drop in halogen replacement.

If I do swap, I'd likely go to a KC G4 amber

Makes sense that I haven't seen any reviews. I've seen his review, love how thorough and detailed it is!

I'm still waiting on the lights from @Diode Dynamics, I'll get them up ASAP once I have them but can't do much till then.

The KC G4s in amber are included in that thread, as are nearly all the fogs. See the links at the very top of the original thread for all the updated product releases. KC G4 amber post below.
