    Aloha Guys,

So I'm sure there is a thread out there on this but I have some undercoating questions. I have a 96 extra cab tacoma with a fabtech lift. I am gonna spray some rustoleum black paint as an undercoat. I really want to know where should I tape up. What shouldnt get painted. and how tips on how to do it. The person I bought my GF's truck from did it on hers with rustoleum paint and it looks great. Thanks for your help Aloha!!

Are you in Hawaii? Rustoleum may work in your neck of the woods, but not in the rust belt...

Tape off all of your rubber (boots, bushings, etc) bits, electrical connectors, exhaust, spare tire lift mechanism, and brake rotors. There are probably other things, but I can't think of any at this time.

And those elements are Sodium and Chlorine, bonded together covalently.

and this stuff here is the big guns or what? used in desparate times when the other methods do not work properly

Calcium chloride is an inorganic compound, a salt with the chemical formula CaClâ‚‚. It is a white coloured crystalline solid at room temperature, highly soluble in water. It can be created by neutralising hydrochloric acid with calcium hydroxide.

Don't get me wrong, CaClâ‚‚ is bad, and even though it has two chlorines per molecule and NaCl only has one, NaCl is still more corrosive to your truck. It has to do with the chemical bonding. CaCl2 isn't used as much as NaCl on our roads, as CaCl2 is more expensive. BTW they are both inorganic compounds. You can tell because there isn't a C (carbon) in the formula.
You mentioned in a different thread that there was a guy from Minnesota that tested FF and it didn't hold up well. Can you provide more information? I'm always looking to learn more.

the cost of the CaClâ‚‚ is probably why they only spread that down on the main roads here in the city and left the residential roads with an inch of ice and just put sand on after last winters epic storm on the Missouri river basin

is the other stuff not able to be used as a pretreatment if there is going to be rain first because it will just wash away?

    Thanks for the info.
Good question, about the pretreatment, I'll see if I can find out.

its only what i have heard on the local news about spreading out the brine stripes to make snow removal easier, if its going to rain first before the snow it is of no use and wasted effort and money
