Thanks for the writeup, much cheaper than the Alpine route.

Phone is unlocked. This was my first stop.

This may be the issue. I noticed the bluetooth connection first has to be established, then the head unit switches its tethering on and disconnects from wifi. I will try connecting to the Android-APXXXX on my phone and see if that helps.

I've been communicating with the vendor and they have suggested a few MCU/system/zlink updates. They have been very helpful, I just like to solve problems on my own, haha.

One other question, have you all been using the single USB harness, or the dual USB harness? I tried the single USB at first (plugged into the right place) and didn't have a connection. The dual USB works fine for flash drives, but I get an error on zlink.

I’m using single with no problem. I did purchase the adapter that is listed somewhere on here that allows you to plug directly into the stock USB port.

What EQ setting are you using for the OEM audio plus? I love the Dasaita, but the sound sucks compared to my Alpine Halo9 out of the box. I'm sure I can fix that with good EQ settings, but I've never been good at setting that...which is why I initially went with OEM audio plus to begin with.

Do you have a px6? If so I was playing with the hz cut offs and gain settings after playing with eq. The combo helped with my speakers. Replaced with focals and cut off the super low notes with the eq cut off and bumped some gain around 60-80hz. I need to go back k and check. I do agree overall sound quality could be better. But some eq tweaking helps.

Over Thanksgiving, I upgraded my 1999 Tacoma with some 21st century electronics.

    After:
    IMG_2373.jpg

Huge upgrade for me to now have all the features the Dasaita Head Unit provides.

    Some thoughts:
I am not a sound aficionado, I still have the stock speakers. The head unit sounds as clear or maybe a little better compared to the stock stereo to me.

I like the touch screen position on the 1st gen because reflections are not an issue. The driver looks down at the screen and any reflections will be of the floor or passenger seat which are typically dark. The screen is viewable with polarized sunglasses. At night the screen's brightness is comfortable - not too bright but easily viewable.

I like how the screen is closer to my hand compared to the stock radio controls. I do not have to reach anymore.

The bad thing about the lower position is that it averts my eyes from the road. I have to make sure I do not stare down at the screen.

I wonder how this Chinese head unit will handle bouncing around on dusty trails in the hot summer? I will find out soon.

I inserted the styrofoam that came with the packaging between the display and the head unit. The display is cantilevered to the head unit with a ball joint that has a tiny bit of play. The styrofoam should distribute the display load on the head unit faceplate, acting as a shock absorber when bouncing around on the trail.

The display is a little bit in the way of the HVAC controls, but I can still get to them easy enough. It doesn't bother me. If I ever remove the CB radio I can move the display lower.

You can checkout details of the installation in my build thread.

What size is the microphone input on the back? It's not 3.5 mm from what I can tell.

Weird. Is there anything smaller than that? I have a mic that came with my pioneer and the plug is too small.

    Microphones are either a 2.5mm or 3.5mm. I believe pioneers come with a 2.5mm, Dasaitas use 3.5mm.

So I took my radio out again today to install the gps adapter that came in the mail. Was a perfect fit and now gps location works great. Order the adapter in OP’s post!

i took a few pictures of the inside to confirm the ground points. Is this it? Seemed like there was two other wires going to this point as well.

One to the left works, too. And a little easier to get to.
