Yea the service department in carlsbad wasn't too helpful on the TSB information. They have, however, heard of this rumbling speaker problem on the 09s and are willing to spend a day updating wire connections and re-sheathing the existing wires. I guess my speaker isn't blown! They're going to check on my 3 leaf springs that match the old part numbers of the TSB for 05-08. Hopefully this can be resolved as well.

I purchased my 09 on September 30th, and had my TSB done on October 17th. My truck had the old part numbers too, and my dealer did not give me any hassles with putting on the new 4-leaf springs. I just had to remind them that although my year is not covered on the TSB, the part numbers are the same as the ones on the TSB. I don't know if the old 3-leaf springs are "updated" for the 09's or not, but since my dealer was willing to do the TSB and give my the 4-leaf pack for free, I decided why not. It's a free upgrade. I may have the TPMS initialization TSB at home. I will check tonight and if I have it, I will post it up here.

Here is a link to another post that has a picture of the new leaf springs:

Just count the individual leaves on your rear springs. If you have 3 total, then you can try to get the TSB to upgrade to 4. I have the same type of truck and got mine upgraded.

My '09 is ticking... When I took it in last week, they tried to say that it was normal, then they said it was the fuel injection and they'd have to order parts. I'm supposed to take it back in on Wednesday. I really don't know much about this stuff... is the fuel injection what caused the ticking on earlier models?

they say the injectors is what makes the noise, but there was a tsb on the 05's and maybe the 06's on ticking, but they replaced the exhaust manifolds i do believe

I don't really think we have any proof at all that the G springs are in fact a "fixed" spring. Keep in mind that Toyota just updated the spring TSB to include ALL 2008 models.. and those (including mine) have the G spring.

Why would they update the TSB to include a "fixed" spring?

Having said that, my motorcycle (400lb) + me (200lb) + friend (165 lb) jumping up and down as hard as we could did not bottom out my G spring.

i dunno....but the updated tsb doesnt say anything about the "g" spring either. just the part number up to that part.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat... My truck seems to be fine with the 'G' springs. My buddy's 2007 rides like shit. It's terrible. I drive thru these deep dips by my hose every day, and I've never had a problem with mine bottoming out. My buddy's truck bottoms out every time on the same dips, even unloaded. To me, it's not even worth the hassle of trying to convince the dealer that I've got the bad springs. If the ride was anywhere near that of my buddy's '07 though, I'd be at the dealer tomorrow raising hell.

What I find odd is that the TSB above is for 2009 models and it states that the spare tire has a TPMS sensor, but this "New Features" publication that I attached below states that the spare tires for 2009's no longer have the TPMS. I haven't actually checked my spare yet, so I don't know which one is accurate.

Hmmm... I guess these springs on my 09 are not the new ones. And I already got a one inch spacer in the rear, I guess if I can get this TSB done, the blocks won't be needed. Thanks for the info. Here's the spring that's listed on the TSB.
