So i used my 4x4 yesterday for the 1st time since buying my 07 trd sb and all seemed well. Later that night i go to disengage and seem to do so but the light continues to flash..tried putting back into 4hi with no results triedrolling back and forth and still nothing. After shutting truck and restarting in 4hi 4x4 was active now everytime i disengage the light still flashes and i cant reenage unless i restart truck in 4hi...any thoughts abd help would be great.

Not sure how to fix the problem, but you can prevent problems by actually using 4x4 occasionally. The owners manual suggests about 10 miles/month in 4X4 to keep internal parts lubricated. I've not found that to be exactly true, but I'd not let my truck sit more than a couple of months without getting it out on a dirt/gravel road and driving for at least a few minutes in 4X4. Let them sit for several months and problems like this are common. This is just as important to the vehicle as regular oil changes.

Part of the problem is that you probably used 4X4 in places where you shouldn't if you waited until you got home to try to disengage. 4X4 should only be used sparingly to get you through tough spots, then disengaged. If you shifted into 4X4 and just left it there while driving on surfaces with good traction you really put the entire driveline in a bind.

This sort of thing happens often when used in lo range. Having problems getting it to disengage is pretty common. Putting the truck in reverse and backing up 10-15', then pulling forward 10-15' usually helps. Although it may take several tries.

If you dont use 4wd regularly, I would investigate the actuators on the tcase and the diff that move the shift rails and ADD, respectively. They are known to get corroded and stop working if they arent engaged periodically or get exposed to moisture.

I recommend taking a spin through the thread below. It might be a helpful to have someone turn the switch in the cab while you listen for clicking and movement in the actuator to occur under the truck in order to diagnose.

My truck is an automatic, from what i read and videos i seen ...i think it might be the actuator not fully clicking back into place at 2hi but im still new to this....i can get it to disengage from 4hi to 2hi but the light keeps blinking..then going back to 4hi wont engage unless i turn off truck and restart in 4hi...4lo seems to be perfectly normal...

Maybe try getting under the truck and tapping on the actuator on the tcase while the light is blinking to see if it goes.
