Just use full hockey pads. I damn near broke my elbow smashing it into the fender when I broke mine loose.

 

I was trying to understand the original post you made for yours and hope I got it right. I was hoping to lessen the work my friend had to do cutting the base. Glad I'm on the right track. I was nervous when I started pressing the bearing. Just a $15 part I know! But first time doing this and I don't want to mess up the belt drive as you mentioned.

That's what we were afraid of. We linked two together but was very unsteady. Holding the wrench steady and making sure not to slip and strip was on my mind. I have a longer double box end wrench coming tomorrow that I can slip a jack handle over, hopefully the leverage is more steady.

I’m not sure what you’re pressing.

I just trimmed the sleeve at the back of the bearing and then shortened the thick cast iron base so that the bearing was lined up with the belt.

ever think of selling a kit? throw out an interest feeler maybe.

 

I’d also considered that it may be possible to pull this off with a long 8mm stud chucked into a drill press and a cutting disk on a die grinder.

I just don’t want to be responsible if one takes a shit and fucks up someone’s truck. I’m fine with sharing how I did mine though. Trying to be as explicit as possible.

Had given some thought to a way to beef it up as well. Haven’t experienced any issues with it thus far, but, it certainly doesn’t “look” like it’s as strong as it “could” be.

 

i totally understand, and respect your reasons of liability. yes, your instructions are clear. im crafty but without a shop so machining can be tough at times.

You did a better job on those hose ends than I did. I mangled the heck out of the first pair.

Oh well. They’re under the car anyway.

 

Those are classy fittings, in finish.

 

Temps were always well controlled with the oil cooler. Under 240f, 25 mins wot x4-5 heats, 100+ ambient temps.

 

Bitches like classy.

 

I took a 20 mile drive and my cooler was just mildly warm. I’ve held hot pockets that were hotter than this. I’ll try adding some harder throttle pulls tomorrow and try again.
