I know what you are saying on the drive through lines. I have to go through the car rider line to get my daughter every night and I will turn off my headlights and just use the amber fogs to get through the line. I know my head lights are bright, so I turn them off for the other cars and teachers. There is a VERY lifted F250 with projectors that I see often. Man his lights are super bright, but he projects over the cars.

I also have eyes that are just super sensitive to light, so it pisses me off even more....I know I'm never going to change the world on this subject, but complaining is fun.

If somebody provided me a good justification for the bright ass lights...maybe I'd be more understanding....but there isn't a good justification...

I gaurantee had you gotten in front of or was oncoming to my in my 4Runner with my actual cutoff fogs you wouldnt be blinded at all but if you were in the vehicle with me you would be in awe of how bright they were and how great you could see. Even with my Jeep, my headlights (highs and lows) and foglights have the sharpest cutoffs and the throw of the lights are tremendous inside the cab but oncoming they just look like standard LED colored lights without the blinding factor or glare that comes with improper bulbs/housing/alignment/etc

but even with cutoffs, it is a bright spot in my mirrors, brighter than a standard halogen. the way night vision works, even if you don't look directly into the light, it affects your ability to see at night with it's presence alone. the brighter the spot, the greater the effect.

do you need those amazing lights to see adequately? nope. halogen would be just fine, as they always have been lol. does it help that you have nice cutoffs? sure. does it eliminate the issue they cause for other drivers entirely? nope.

Is it my fault that other drivers have bad enough vision that begs to question if they should even be behind the wheel?

is it your fault that you have bad enough vision you feel the need to have stupidly bright lights for no reason?

Bottom line, if done properly, the "vision impaired" don't have a leg to stand on in their arguments.

bottom line, the "justifications" for brighter lights don't have a leg to stand on.

it's not a vision impaired issue, it's a matter of physics and how light works issue lol

About a month ago I flashed my high beams because the truck i was meeting had super bright lights. When I did they hit their 40 inch light bar, that was a mistake. I was in my Samurai so I hit the 40 inch on the windshield, the 15 on the bumper and both ditch lights. They were stopped in the road when I went by, like I said earlier I will most likely be shot on the road. lol
