Man, that just looks like a caulk job from a bad caulker.

It's early, but its a wax that needs to be applied into the seams, so more is better.

Wait a few months before ANY recall and let the shops get more familiar.

I’m pulling mine off on Sunday for the inspection on Tuesday. Powder coat is peeling off and they are rusting so I wanted to address that situation anyways.

    So it’s a regional recall?

I moved out from nyc, my old pathfinder was a rust bucket. Now I’m close to the beach so there is more rust than being in the desert ....not ny rust though !

Yea. If your vin doesn't show up, then you're most likely not part of the recall. At least for the previous recalls, it's basically the rust belt states

So my question (not forcing you to go figure this out, but I’m sure I’m not the only one curious):

1- did they spray or apply that goop in the front boxed sections?

2- did they fill the flat area on the bottom of the c-channels right up with that stuff?

3- did they do the back of the frame as well including the gas tank and spare tire cross members?

4- is that stuff still gooey oozy or does it seem to be hardening up?

    5 - did they fill your A-arms?

6 - did you get any documentation stating what product they used or any paperwork at all? Is this the standard Toyota fix or a home-brew remedy from your local dealer? I.E. “Hey Jerry.....slap some Tub and Tile caulking on this fellas frame and call it done!

7- is it dripping out or does it stink?

Dealership just called to tell me my "parts" are in for this recall. I have a 2017 TRD Pro DCSB; SW said that half the trucks got resprayed at the factory and the other half didn't. Apparently mine only needs plugs in the frame. Dealership is only doing the 1.5hr job during the week and in the mornings so I won't be able to get it done until I am off work.

They don't spray the exterior, they blow a substance inside the frame, seal it to an extent with what is pictured, and install some plugs in prefab holes that exist. Not the same as their previous campaign, and in my case (I have a '17) the process was already done at the factory, just didn't have the plugs installed. Here is my post when I was fresh from my service department last week:

I've got an '08 but had the frame replaced and I pulled off my skid plates and sliders but I left my bumpers on and my cap with RTT and they didn't really mind. He mentioned that it took longer since they had to deal with my bumpers but didn't really complain...probably depends on the dealer.

Not sure how you check, but the campaign is relevant to certain model years, sold or owned in certain states, and if that applies, you should have got a letter. Can always check with your service department to check to see if yours falls into either one of these categories.

You can log into https://toyota.com/owners and have your VIN number put in there. That should tell you what you need.
