What did you guys do to get yours?? I've been on a 3 year long mission to delete the chrome and all thats left is this damn rear bumper!! It was my birthday today and I've got a nice chunk of change!! I live in Orange County so if anyone could direct me to a body shop or maybe a website that I could obtain the painted rear bumper cover from I would be a very very very very very happy man

Well, the primered bumper is I think around 200 new, and paint will probably run about the same. So if the rear bumper is worth 400 bucks to you, go for it. Every single WTT ad I have seen is someone with chrome wanting the black, never the other way around. I got really lucky and traded my chrome for a base black, and it looks great on a BSP truck.

    Street pkg. means sport-comes primered.

BTW, where did you get the hood?

^^^^^ this, but you can also get some color matched rattle cans and do it yourself if you have the time and skills. Cost then comes down to bumper and paint. If your chrome is still good, then you can sell that and recoup some costs.

i don't like my chrome bumper either, but i haven't been able to find a bodyshop that'll paint it. Powdercoat is probably the only way to go?

Contact Blackhawke88 on this forum. He painted my chrome bumper for me when he was living up here in Northern California. He's living in SoCal now...He did a great job at a fantastic price. I've had mine on for over 6 months now and haven't had a problem.

Simple solution since you have a Black truck.

To get that CHROME 100% blacked out with no issues. Have someone VINYL wrap it Flat, Matte, or Gloss Black if you like.

It will look amazing and like paint. Cost is not bad @ all.

However, you run the risk to prep and paint a CHROME bumper over time. The bumper is NOT like the Chrome Grille where its plastic underneath. . .

In dew time, it will chip and give. . .

This was from my Professional painters when I had my Chrome Bumper. I trust those guys as they paint Exotic cars all day. . .

If you really want it painted, get the MATTE Unpainted OEM bumper and stick it on.

Thats probably the most interesting idea I've read yet to get a chrome bumper black. But wouldn't you risk ripping the vinyl on anything that rubs against it? like a small branch sticking out on a 4x4 trail?

No, it would come primered, ready to be painted. It's the cheapest option. The base bumper is around 250 i think. Looks good though.
Damn, you got lucky on that hood. You got an x-r-u account? wanna post up for me? :D

Yup, 290 for the base bumper.

The vinyl would be the best route imo, theres a guy on here that had his fender flares done and he seems to offroad a bit and some of those materials are made by 3M.

I say paint it your self. I did mine on my 4runner with spray can truck bed liner. Here are some pics...
