I'd love to have my spare 285/75/16 on a swing out but honestly I'm not sure if I can make it work with my current setup on the custom bumper I had made a couple years ago. ANY advice would be greatly appreciated!!

At the time I had a tire mount welded in the bedrack cause that's the look I wanted. Well since then I've changed my mind. I just got an RTT and that is now going to have a home permanently on my bedrack.

Below is what I'm working with.

Mount the spare to underneath the bed rack or just push it up in the bed... Or mount it vertically standing up across the back of the cab in the bed - it's not like you can see out of the back window anyway with a RTT on the bed rack.

Other options include selling your bumper and getting one with a swing out.

I got the tail gate swingout for the same reason...needed my bed rack to mount my RTT and keeping the spare under the rack/in the bed ate up a ton of valuable bed space for other things.

It would be fairly easy to add a swing out to your current bumper. I permanently attached a Wilco hitch gate to the factory hitch to make it into a bumper. The base of the hitchgate is basically the same thing as your bumper. They then put ears off either end and have a second tube that terminates in bushings with one side being the latch and the other the pivot, great setup for the Tacoma.

You'd just have to chop off the shackle points, add the ears, make up your swing out with whatever mounts you want (Ruffstuff sells bushings). Then you could add the shackle mounts back onto the bottom of the main tube instead, it's that simple.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

Looks like my rear bumper is a similar principle to yours... I mounted a swing out on mine. But the way I did mine made the swing out replace the tail gate.

Here's a link to my build thread where I did my bumper.

I just built a very similar bumper with a swing out. This is the outcome I can answer any questions you have just let me know!

main bumper is 4x2 3/16” wall then there are 3/4 bolts on the ends with heims to pivot on for the swing arms.

Thats an idea! I looked in to those. Little pricey IMO. I'll def keep wilco in mind! I don't have a hitch mount on my bumper currently.

You're setup is kinda what I had in mind! Only issue is my bumper is like a roll pan. (Same width) not sure if I can fit mounts on the ends. It also doesn't stick out as far as yours :/

What brackets with holes are those that the heim joints are mounted into on the ends of the bumper??

My old bumper was like yours. Had a swing out built on it a few years later. You should be able to do so without cutting your shackles. I since sold it and got something a little simpler and cut into my bedsides

Yes it is all custom. I will take pics in a few hours when I can to give you much better answers but I built it all with an angle grinder. In its essence it is 2 P shaped pieces of 1/4 plate per side where the top of the P has a 1/4 plate between them to keep them from smashing in if I drag it on the ground.

Hey Fernando! Not sure if you remember me. Its been a while since I've been on here lol. If I remember correctly I think I tried to replicate your bumper a couple years ago. By any chance do you have any more pictures of the rear set up? Maybe closer up so I can see exactly what you ended up doing? Any pics with the tire swing outwards?

What's up bro, yeah I remember you. Your trucks looking good. I actually just sold that bumper about a month ago to a guy in a gold first gen. I think I have some pictures in my build thread towards the end. Got some close-ups. Some guy had asked the same. Go check them out.

Their pricing is definitely way out of line, I picked it up for like $200 on marketplace and hacked it up a bit. Any fabricator could easily make it happen probably even using your stock bumper as a base, if you searched around you could probably get it done for right around $400 I'd bet.
