Ordered my 23zero walkabout 72 this weekend. I should have it in a week or so. Then I will be one of you. Family is excited.

...The sun now below the horizon, it was time to find camp. We considered for a moment the possibility of camping here at the Evening Star Mine, but the snow on the ground, and the mountains to the east - which would result in a shady morning - quickly had us searching for lower ground as the orange horizon gleamed before us...

Oh, and there was a bit of an issue with our rear bumper that we dealt with, and an RV that we winched out of a wash. Fun day!

Does anyone else have issues with the little end caps constantly falling out of the aluminium extrusion under their RTT? I dont want to epoxy them in place in case I ever need to replace hardware. But every single trip I find at least one of them in the bed..

When I had my RTT I did a wrap of electrical tape before popping them back in and it seemed to take care of the problem.

...Back at the truck, we now had a decision to make - we could either head back out the way we'd come - over the washboard-power-line-road-of-death, or continue south on Yates Well Road. I knew the Yates Well road would eventually - if it were passable - connect to the Colosseum Mine, and we both felt that we needed a bit of redemption in that department, so we decided to give it a shot - after all, the worst that could happen is that we'd have to turn around.
Well, the worst that could happen is that we'd get stuck in the middle of nowhere and die from the cold, but that was unlikely. AmIRight? ;)

If you're looking at spending that kind of money on a mattress, look no further than an Exped MegaMat 10 Duo LXW. Will be significantly more comfortable than any foam-only mattress.

Here was my first introduction to it: https://adventuretaco.com/rig-review-hiking-death-valley-what-worked-and-what-didnt/

The net-net is that the MegaMat is:
    1. More comfortable.
    2. Takes up less room when compressed.
    3. Warmer.
    4. Weighs less.

Everyone I know who has gotten one has been thrilled. I plan to write up my "A year later" review in a week or so.

    5. Is portable.

Second this recommendation 110%. It's worth every penny.

Third recommendation. We actually got ours because of @turbodb's review. It's been worth every penny, for sure! When it's fully deflated, we can close the tent with our sleeping bags, pillows, and an extra blanket still in there. And with minimal stress on the tent.

I had to hammer mine in as it was a tight fit. I didn't have them on for a year and I cut my arm on them countless times. :annoyed:

Both but I'm not selling the mattress haha. I'd used one for ground camping previously and decided to buy one to make the RTT a bit more comfortable. Going back to a ground setup, I'll definitely be getting use out of it.

anyone in here rocking a silverwing hardshell rooftop tent? Would love to hear your thoughts on it.

searched “silverwing” for this thread but got zero results, so my apologies if I missed it in some way.
