I am guessing it's for the clock. That's where it is in my '01.

Not sure but that might just be a blank that you can push out from the other side and install the clock.

It is hard to see. It would be awesome if someone would make a screen with more info on it other than the clock ie. outside temp, transmission temp, etc. It’s a good size.

There are two blanking panels that will fit there. One p/n is smooth on the back side, for cars that never had wiring for the clock. The other p/n has a dummy socket for plugging in the factory wiring connector if it's fitted and a clock isn't.

Check which one you have -- it may be really easy to get a clock from a yard, eBay, or the dealer to put one in.

Note that as others have said, the clock isn't easily seen without tilting one's head to the right. That's OK with me, but I can see where others would be frustrated with that.

As others have said, it is for the clock. The clock was NOT standard equipment, at least, for some models. I had the 96 xtracab and the clock did not come standard on it. As soon as I got the truck though, the wife noticed immediately that there was no clock in there, so she actually took my truck back to the dealer and bought the clock, which was an accessory that was optional. You can find these online if you want to put one in there. They are nice to have, but nowadays, most radios come with a clock that is always on display, making the separate clock a non-issue.
