the mount plates are flat on the CBI rack attachments, so I just through-bolted the rack to it, rather than using the supplied clamps.

Remind me, but did someone here make a stand for the bed of our truck out of PVC pipe?

I made a rear wheel brace for when you put the front wheel over the tailgate. Then the bikes stay upright as opposed to flopping over. But that doesn’t help if someone has a rack because bikes can’t stand upright with a rack bolted on.

Ahhhh..curious to see though it sounds different from my needs, I have a few 20" bikes so I wouldn't be putting the front wheel out like that.

Probably been discussed before, but how do people feel about leaving their bikes on racks while camping? I have a few long camping trips planned and I'm wondering if I should get a soft topper so I can put the bikes in the bed and keep them out of sight as my rack set up leaves them in plain sight.

I won’t do it unless I’m in a very remote spot.

I do it all the time. That is if you mean truck camping. I just slap a lock around them and I’ve never had an issue. I would never go backpacking or something like that with any valuables in my truck.

Same, i just back the car/truck in right next to the tent or as close as possible. With any luck i would notice someone trying to cut my bikes off the rack.

Lock em up somehow some way and take anything off them that doesn't need tools to remove.

I had a bike stolen when I was 15 despite locking it up and I'd still murder the asshole if I found them

I leave mine on there all the time. Of course, I think having the fork bolted in lessens the chances since most don’t carry around an Allen key.
And then I’ll throw a cable lock or chain lock on them as well (that loops thru the frame and bike rack).
And thats when I’m in cities too. Around camp I usually just lock them together with a heavy chain. Most people at campsites are cool. I’d worry more in urban areas.

I don’t. But can always snap some if you needed some for an idea or whatever. It was one of the dumbest, yet most brilliant things I’ve thrown together with scrap wood lol

Mainly curious to see behind the wheelwells and the front of the bed, how do you keep it steady?

I have officially become "Old Man Safety" because I thought my swing away bike rack looked like it would be hard to see at night. So, I got a bunch of those DOT reflective trailer stickers and went to town on it. Safety.
