Let's hope mine isn't about to be a shopping list full of issues like you had.. Just had my timing chain cover resealed and I'm not impressed with the way the transmission acts. It's unfortunate what you had to deal with

    70K, none of the above.
One TSB, no flair but certainly engine/trans behavior is the worst part of the truck, nevertheless fully functional. When friends who own other vehicles drive it, they don’t complain.
Audio has rebooted about 5 times in 4 years. I did once briefly, recently, hear loud chirping at idle, then it went away so I could called be guilty of ignoring that. High pressure fuel pump or belt/pulley? No other weird noises or problems. Well, wind noise kazoo ... no fix has worked consistently for me.
Rear leaves squeaked for a while but not recently.

I had a Jeep bought back, refunded, from me once after 6 months and 7K miles. Every penny.
And that was for only one problem.

The sealership is bad for that.... i got my oil changed at 10k then at 20k no problems minus shitty work / care for truck. at 5-10-15-20-25k have the Toyota service care do their 1 millon point inspection, at 25k its over at 30k i went in for an oil change and still no problems then at 40k they hooked up to my battery and said it was low and needed to be replaced, this is at a 2-2.5 year mark so still really new, but out of free bumper to bumper (i still have my 100k extended but i want the money back ~2k ) of course i did what most would do, asked them how much, then politely told them to go fuck them self. if the stock battery was dead in 2+ years why would i spend $260 on the same thing. I'm 67k strong and still rocking the stock dead battery....lol never had a rough start in 10 deg. weather. :mudding:

Have 75k on my 16 and no issues other than the transmission downshifting to 4th on 1% grades while in cruise. Otherwise it's been a great truck.

I bought it CPO at 30K. So all these issues have been over a 2.5 year & 30K period. Not stellar by any means. Granted my truck is a 16 so I new going in it might have some first year issues but this is unacceptable especially for a Toyota unless that whole Toyota is the most reliable thing doesn't apply anymore. My last vehicle was a Range Rover Sport Supercharged & was way more reliable than this truck & I had that up to 95K. I have a Toyota extended warranty up to 100K so no worries about major out of pocked repairs. The warranty has already paid for itself with the BSM repair.

You've had many issues too? How many miles on the truck?

You should definitely push for them to give you the platinum coverage that includes roadside 8 years extended warranty 125k at the very least.

Sold my 2016 at 130k miles, front timing cover was leaking, rear main seal was leaking, passenger side axle seal had been replaced, and rear diff started squealing and vibrating badly so I traded it in before that repair bill had to be paid. I was hard on the truck, overall it was a good truck and never left me stranded.

48k no issues yet, but I do however have the 100k extended warranty, do you guys recommend it or should I try and get a refund for it? I'm open to opinions.

Yeah, needed/wanted a full size truck to haul my TT. Bought a 4runner for the Toyota itch.

Toyota did give me a discounted 7 yr/100K platinum warranty due to all the issues I have had & that has helped the situation. Before the warranty expires it will be sold or traded in. I doubt I will replace it with another Tacoma.

It looks like you are driving about 24K miles a year so your warranty is like a 4 year deal . If you was only driving 10K to15K miles a year I would say keep it . If the truck is solid you might want to see how much you can get refunded.

$260 for a stock battery? Dayum. I tried to use this coupon for an over the counter purchase. "No can do, that's the installed price." Would only let me give them $90 and change out the door. (This was for my 2016 Highlander, but same battery).
