I've read other threads like just using a zip tie or the other more intense methods but I'm looking for responses of what you've done if you have this problem and how you fixed it. I find it insanely annoying, and would love to fix it this weekend.

    Let me know in detail!

    Thanks

a few (4-6) smallll zip ties wrapped around the center bushing of the rag joint equally spaced to take up the room has done me solid for 6 years now.

I degreased mine with brake cleaner and smeared clear RTV in it. It worked great but is kind of a pain to do.

Geez. You guys went ghetto with your rag joint.

I welded mine. I had my co worker weld 5 large tack welds above and below the void. It's given the truck such a feeling of confidence and it has been my favorite mod for a while now with the poly steering rack bushings.

The purpose of a rag joint is to flex a little bit. Welding it solid defeats the purpose....

Can someone describe the issue? Or like the symptoms or whatever that are being addressed?

What rack bushings did you go with? How much of a pita were they to do?

I think I went with the energy ones.

Let's put it this way, I managed to do those and my 4x4 polyurethane engine mounts built by @Bonzen within about 10 hours all in the same day. I'd probably say it took about 3 hours to do that. It was cake compared to the engine mounts.

    Everything.
The driver side motor mount of the 4.0L is a PITA. but...still better than doing it when your engine mounts fails and you have to do it anyway and repair your frame perches!
