So I’m sure this has been brought up but I can’t really find the info I’m looking for, I was wondering which would be the best option for the money. Headstrong has a 5100 kit with the Dakar leaf pack for 1,430.00 or I can get the 6112/5160 for 971.00 and get the Dakar leaf pack for an additional 470 (total for 6112 package= 1441.00) with the price being so close I’m not sure which to go with any info helps since I’m still learning

That’s what I was thinking to I just wasn’t sure if the 5100’s had any benefit over the 6112’s?

The 6112's are much beefier than the 5100's.

You may want to call Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road and get some clarification. I'm seeing $1697 for the 6112/5160/Dakar kit.

But my opinion is pass on the 5100 and go 6112.

I priced it out from a couple websites looking for the best prices and came up with this, if you buy the Dakar separate you get the price I quoted above

Got ya. Just don't forget to factor in the cost of u-bolts and bushings if you get the Dakars outside of a kit.

On Amazon you can get the 6112/5160s for $971. OME EL095R medium duty for $235.

I'm guessing that's where he got his prices from because that is exactly what he said it would cost.

I had it down to $1206 vs $1441. But I would call the shops you never know what kind of deals they will offer, lots of stuff isn't advertised.

$235 on Amazon is for one leaf pack. So........$470.

Yeah that would definitely be my first choice out of those two, I went the basic route with the 5100s on the front being practical, but after being on this site for a while you end up wanting something better.

Do these (6112’s) require more frequent rebuilding?

Also, I’ve seen quite a few of the Bilstein shocks, that aren’t painted, corroding badly from road salt. I had a set of Ranchos on my previous truck (F150) that we’re finished the same way and looked like crap after a year.

I’d hate to drop that kind of coin again only to have them looking terrible after a central PA winter. Thats one reason why I’m leaning towards a painted shock like OME when I do my lift. Decisions! Decisions.

What worked for me was grab the exact part number you want and search for them. I got my 6112s for $550 on eBay. But they only listed a part number and no vehicle fitment details. I got one of my rear 5125 shocks for $30 and the other for like $70. Just takes some creative searching.
