    Hello all,

I just got a 2020 Tacoma SR5. Just drove it off the lot. What are some of the things I should do first?

Any specific settings that I should look into? What is this SOS button? They kinda glanced over the SOS button during the test drive, but I just noticed the sticker that says its always transmitting location and maybe even audio data at all times (i cant remember if it said this or not)? Do people usually leave this on or off?

I previously owned a 2016 Tacoma sr5 so I know the basics. However, idk if all of these new features are really as great as the dealers claim.

Anyway, what kind of stuff did you do first when you got your Tacoma? So far, I LOVE this truck more than my 2016!

    Cheers,

Welcome! I'd skim/read the manual first to get yourself up to date on the new features, particularly the TSS since I assume you didn't have that on your 2016. A lot of people seem to complain about it but I like it, especially once you understand how it works and settings you can change.

And then get yourself a bed mat

    Canada Eh!
I'd certainly recommend floor liners of some sort. Husky and Weathertech, or OEM. Next, drive the crap out of it and find out for yourself what needs changing/upgrading.

Spend some quality time with the owners manual, especially if you have 4x4, and are uncertain when/how to use it. There is a great thread called something like "Traction modes explained" or similar that can explain the differences between Trac, A-LSD, A-trac, long vs short press of traction control button etc....if so equipped.

    Found it >> https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/3rd-gen-traction-control-modes-explained.530695/

Other recommendations that should be done sooner than later:
1 - Paint protection film (3M, XPEL, etc)
2- Rust proofing, if your climate suggests you need it

Here is a pic from the day I got her home!
    2020 First Picture.jpg

This is the first morning after I got her. Took her fishing before work :)
    2020 First Day.jpg

So far, since Monday, I've upgraded the headlight bulbs to Fahren H11 LEDs from Amazon. They are nice but after all the horror stories I've read about burning out BCM's, I'm finding it hard to fully enjoy them without constantly being anxious that something will eventually go wrong.

I also have an appointment for window tint Tomorrow afternoon! Those who have tinted their windows, did you do the front window visor strip? I have had it in the past and liked it, but im afraid it will take up too much space on the windshield. Anybody have any pics of their window visor tint, if you have it?

Thanks for the warm welcome. I love this truck MORE AND MORE every day. I traded in my 2016 tacoma sr5 for it and the difference is NIGHT AND DAY in the smoothness of the drive and suspension.

oh and with regards to floor mats. I fish A LOT, and live in Florida. So one of the first things I mentioned while negotiating at the dealership, was that they include new all weather floor mats with the truck. Either that, or I go outside and take the ones out of my 2016 Tacoma that I was trading in, and put them in my new truck. They gave me new ones. :)

Congrats! Looks nice! There is so much aftermarket support for these that it's hard to even start a list lol. Go on Meso's website and it only makes it worse! Really depends on what you want to do with it, I went for a cover almost immediately but mine already had a lift and wheels/tires installed. I'm curious about tint as well, living in the Florida sun gets brutal a few months from now!

I'm keeping my TRD OR pretty much stock but I've got bed mat, hard tonneau, mud guards, Clazzio's, console/glove box organizers.

I've considered a new grille, but this truck has the censor inside the logo... Idk how to go about getting a new grille and keeping that censor.
