I just replaced my Icon Uniballs, with the new delta joints. You need a 20 ton press for sure, I had to run to Jim house to press them out. We actually didnt need a press to put the new ones in just a hammer, vice and the special install too. Good Luck!

And this has nothing to do with Tacomas, but I know a few of you are also car nerds, so...

I finally got my 996 on the dyno this weekend and I'm pretty stoked with the numbers. My best pull of the day netted 555hp @ 6350rpm and 462 ft lbs at 6200rpm at the wheels. The car pulled all the way to the rev limiter and my data logging numbers look pretty good, so I think the spinny bois have a little more juice left in them (though I think my stock fuel injectors and pump might not, so I guess those are my next upgrade).

 

Beautiful ride! I had a 2006 cabriolet while I was in Southern California. I miss that car.

 

Ahhh the good old cycle of building cars....o the turbos have room left still but I need more injector....ok ill upgrade those. O now the pump is maxed out so ill swap that....o now the turbos are maxed out

MY little old MR2 is almost done. Just a couple small things left on the engine side (mostly timing) and then some other stuff like the headlights stopped working (previous owner swapped to aftermarket ones). Wish I hadnt slacked off the last few months with this nice weather!

 

LOL! Seriously, it's a vicious cycle. My stopping point with chasing power on this car will be around 650 wheel horsepower. After that, these motors need rods and head studs and I'm not about to go down that path.

 

650 is a good number for a street car anyways. I always tell people 350-650 is the "sweet" range for most street cars. People always want the big power 800+ HP (or now a days 1000) but never realize all the maintenance that comes with them. Or the fact they become not as fun to street drive unless you can select different tunes.

Theres a reason most supercars are only in the 500-700 hp range

 

Agreed. Frankly, any power past what I'm making now is just bragging rights and has no real-world applicability for street driving. 300-400 is a great sweet spot for cars this size because they're powerful enough to be faster than most stuff around you, but not so powerful that you are instantly breaking multiple laws when you floor it.

It's like they say, it's more fun to drive a slow car fast than to drive a fast car slow.

Anyone have opinions and recommendations on ceramic coating wheels? I just got a new set of matte black and seems like ceramic coating may make it easier to clean.

I wish I would’ve designed it originally so i could fit one, its so low profile that the bottom edge of the bumper is inline with the frame rails

 

I'm actually going to have to redo mine because it's too low profile too.
