Yeah, one thing to note, I am only 5'7". So if you are 6'4" you can probably pack it up just fine on top of the camper shell. But I was having to stand on the tire, then the slider, then the other tire, then the bumper etc.

5'8" here so I feel your struggle. What you're describing is exactly the profanity laced scene that's holding me back from pulling the trigger on a shell. I wonder if I turn the tent so it opens towards the back, if that would alleviate a lot of the struggle. It seems that the edge opposite the hinge needs the most attention which I could do standing on the tailgate. Other two sides I'd still have to stand on the tires though.

I miss the camper shell for sure, but I am much happier being more efficient in my packing of the truck and having it lower on the Diamondback.

I hear you on that. I think I'm going to try out the shell, but not get rid of my Diamondback cover and bed rack immediately. Worst case I hate the shell and go back. I know I won't have a hard time selling shell if I want to get out of it.

Here is one unopened and with the larger tent I had at the time. ARB awning is 6'.
The doors lightly brush the awning upon opening them. I like the low mount but will modify this in the future.
I'm searching to see if I have a picture of it all deployed.

Just a bunch of old crap
Imagine the vibrations from that when offroad. And another huge blind spot.

Next, we'll see them revolutionize a tent that doesn't need to be installed on the roof, or your hitch! It comes in a bag, and you can set it up anywhere on flat ground. It'll be crazy.

If they sold it at REI, every Subaru in the tri-county area will have one in the trunk. Calling it right now.

Holy shit that is ridiculous! $1,200 to make a $2,000 tent a $400 ground tent.

417+55B3nFL._AC_SY400_MSAWEBPEXP_.jpg I have one of these in my garage. About 200 dollars and no need to mount it to a hitch.
