I bought a dongle kit, you will need to buy a license from OVTune once you have the dongle. They will ask for pictures and a few numbers on the dongle itself. I was not offered to switch to a new dongle less kit, but the dongle works just fine for me, so not sure if go through the hassle of switching the kit anyways.

sortof stock. 6112/5160, pro wheels and a tune.
mat- for the map switch between D and ECT, how will this performance mode be different than the regular “D” mode? will it have different pedal feel/ torque curve? just curious!

You will see, with explanation very soon.
Since we have our octane learning setup, the map switching won't be octane based. So you are safe to switch while driving, on the same tank, etc.

    ALSO, IMPORTANT.

FEBRUARY 29TH is the last day to order our Tacoma kit.

After the 29th, it will be out of stock because we will be releasing THE major update.

About to pull the trigger on the tune. So the question is, is there any reason to wait VS not wait per the quote above? Is this big release the production 2.0 rather than beta? So even if I bought now, ran production 1.5, in theory I would just reflash to production 2.0 once that drops in early-ish March? Correct me if I am wrong here :)

edit: production = NOT beta, final product

It is up to you whether you want to save over $100 off of the standard price.

FWIW, 1.05 is a really good tune as are the Betas. You have a lot of choices to try out besides the 2.0 full version.

    Hey Mat!
Sorry to bug you here, but I sent an email 8 days ago about purchasing an additional license but haven't heard back. Any chance we can get that done soon?

    Thanks

It is pretty cool that we can update and was a big improvement for me. A bit more power, much better shifting, and a small MPG bump. OVT was even more of that stuff.

Note that the version of TechStream linked in that thread will work for the update but is not new enough to allow customizations on your 2018. The version linked in my signature is newer and will give you full access on your Taco.

a lot is going into this folks.
what I think you guys will enjoy the most is the true, full torque shuffling elimination.
every single piece of hex has been re-written to eliminate it, including direct address look ups, and all the other methods the ECU uses.
Even including the hidden ones. Part of the reason our copy / past map setup did not work as well on 1.05.
There are data sections that have direct address look ups. really out of the ordinary stuff.

It took a really long time to find these.

    But it's all eliminated now.

Trying to wrap my mind around what this means. Can someone help me understand "full torque shuffling elimination."
