I’ve been thinking about building a custom rear bumper for my 2002 Tacoma trd, I’ve been leaning towards the box tube in the rear and pipe/tube that wrap around the side, so something similar to the Cbi bumper. Thanks in advance

my first custom fab project I’ve ever done myself. Did it in my welding class just before I graduated high school. Simple design and not the prettiest bumper around, also needs some paint work but I think it turned out ok.

You built a great bumper I love it.

You'll just have to keep the black to it and it will always look fine

Did the cutting and measuring at home then buzzed it together over a few lunch breaks at work using the big Miller 252. Rustoleum Tractor Enamel to finish it off.

    Thanks!

I kept it simple. But I could easily extend the tubes out around the sides if I ever become a true broverlander.

Kinda cheating... the bumper is a CBI outback 1.0, I know it doesn’t give you any bumper ideas but I did build the dual swing out if you’re planning to go that direction.

i like your design, what did you use to bend the tubings was just going to buy a harbor-freight tube bender. And roughly how much did materials cost to build this?

I built a super simple one last summer so that I had a functional hitch and for use of a recovery point.
Nothing fancy but just functional and was a quick and easy project to do in an afternoon.
It needs a repair after this winter but otherwise I'm happy with it.
