OEM 2020’s Led aren’t horrible. I have Said time and time again, it will never match up to a properly designed and tuned 3” HID retrofit projector. That being said, there are more pros than cons, which is why I put a set in my own truck.
Build quality- nothing will ever match the quality of plastic, fitment, design, and components that go into a OEM made headlight. PERIOD.
-100% LED, no bulbs to change. While they aren’t the HIGHEST output headlight, everything is LED, from the DRL, turn, side marker, high and low. This is truly a drop in, set it and forget it headlight.

Just playing the devils advocate, and I have a soft spot for both OEM and retrofits.

I went to Alpharex’s booth at SEMA this last year to check these out. Unfortunately they didn’t have the samples ready, but I checked out their other lights on display. They are hitting the market pretty hard and have a ton of new housings in their line up. Morimoto really set the bar as far as price for Aftermarket headlights, and as we can see... these are close behind Them. Time will tell...

Agreed, that's why I worded my initial response like I did. If getting a new or (soon to be) used 2020, the option to get the oem LEDs is a no-brainer. >85% of the output of a retro with 0% of the effort as and if new, way lower cost. If you already have a taco with non-LEDs, that's a very different discussion including for me personally.

I prefer a good projector and 4300-4500k because of how much rain we get. The first vehicle (f56 jcw) I had with LEDs was actually a letdown. The leds struggle with rain, tacoma included. It's the wavelength of the light, can't do much about it but add amber fogs or something.

they were an upgrade LED package from the dealer, not an after purchase add on.

That was the Pkg option on some 2020 models at the time of purchase......NOT for OEM LED style lights after purchase.

Is it possible to buy the 2020 TRD Pro OEM lights? I'd love to replace my stock halogen lights on my 2018. If I can't buy the OEM lights, what is a good aftermarket brand of LED projectors? I see so many brands but they all seem to be over-priced chinese-made junk, but maybe that's just because of my lack of knowledge on the subject.

THe alpharex lights look pretty good, except for the lettering in the bottom. Not a fan. I do really like the OEM led's look much better.

The alpharex headlights are super expensive too. I almost guarantee you could get OEM LEDs for the same price

from what I’ve priced for months, oem will be a few hundred more with almost no sales in the foreseeable future

Were they not included in the recent 10% off plus free shipping? Ill go check my usual dealer and see what they show for a price. I'll report back in a few.

727.33 each from my local preferred dealer. I'm not saying they're $1400 better than led converted or *properly* done retrofits, but if you're either not good at car stuff or can sell your stockers for a good enough price, the OEMs start getting attractively priced quickly.

(edit: not the cheapest that could be found by any means but a decent ballpark.)
