To expand on our Seat Jackers and MMP (seat molle panels) DDI is working on a prototype that would allow a Twin ARB, Single ARB or ViAir Compressor to be mounted under the passenger seat. We are looking for all input.

This is only possible because our Seat Jackers (seat spacers) raise the entire seat by 1-1/4" inches. Without the Seat Jackers, there's just not enough room to fit a compressor.

The initial prototype is rough but it gives you an idea of what we’re going for. We are working on a 2nd prototype that will include Molle attachment points on the side nearest the door and possibly a heat shield to protect the seat from the heat of the compressor.

Testing and prototype updates will be underway for the next 4-8 weeks so the earliest they would be ready for shipment would be late May.

Any and all input is welcome.

    Thanks,
    Steve

September 1, 2020: In final testing now, should have a few test units available soon.

*Single ARB or Viair will require front Seat Jackers and at least .75" of rear Seat Jackers.

**Dual ARB will require front Seat Jackers and 1.25" of rear Seat Jackers.

Cool idea and I'd possibly be interested, but I don't want to raise my seats up. Also, does it look odd if you only raise the passenger's seat and not the driver's seat?

Where to install the ARB has been eating at me, and I like this idea a lot. However, I think passenger side being 1 1/2" high than the driver might send my OCD through the roof.

IDK. Any pics looking across the cab from the driver's side?

It's only 1-1/4" lift, it's not like we're raising the seat 6", and I think most would be surprised on what it does for comfort.

This is also why we did it on the passenger seat and not the drivers seat.

You can not fit a compressor under the seat without raising it atleast an inch.

No from me. My Viaiar gets hot as hell, and under the seat is the last place I’d want it.

Cool idea though, I bet some will bite!

There isn't any headroom to give in the first place! You can't say, " It's ONLY giving up 1 1/4 inch" in a Tacoma, and not sound silly.

Might as well pair this with a rear seat delete and one of those fancy flat storage solutions. My .02

Air Compressors definitely get hot (250+ degrees at the head) which is why we're working on a heat shield to protect the seat. The JK/JL guys have been running under seat twin ARBs for years so its not uncommon.

To clarify, this is for the passenger front seat NOT the rear seat. But yeah I'm with you, at 6'-1" I couldn't imagine raising the rear seat.

Thanks for the feedback guys, keep it coming.

This is a different approach to a compressor mounting.
Good idea. Here’s my “complaint” what is the noise output? If you’re running a locker and it happens to cycle I feel like it would scare the shit out of you lol

My brother in law is running a twin under his JKU passenger seat for his front and rear ARBs. Its loud no doubt but it only cycles when you are using your lockers or airing up tires.

I've already got my under the hood mounting plate and am quite happy with where it will be going, but out of curiosity where are you going to run the wires? Will you have to pull up the carpeting to run it alongside the stock harness or are you planning to run it into the center console?

What does the back seat have to do with the front seat?

I probably should have looked closer!

Previous comment updated, but I still think the rear seat delete would be a good solution for those not expecting to haul passengers.

The wiring would run under the carpet and through the same opening as the seat wires. See attached.

Ok and you've got the switch right there so all you're doing is running to the engine bay, gotcha. Does the harness provided by ARB reach that far (I believe it's 6', sounds like enough but theory != practice)?

The rocker switch at the panel is optional and we're looking for a blank switch plates in case folks want to wire direct to an Spod or similar. The ARB Harness does not reach the battery on the driver side of the engine bay (about 3'-4' short) but we are looking into providing an optional extended harness for those using the twin arb.

Heat and noise are two issues why I wouldn’t want my compressor mounted in cab. Also this would mean either doing a full plumbing job to bring connections outside the cab or you’re going to have doors open when trying to use it. this is all beside the fact of having to raise the seat.

This would be a big old no from me.

Probably not for a compressor but I'd be down for some kind of underseat bracketry for both sides for mounting other electronics tied into the risers. Planning to move my Yaesu under the driver seat.

There are several under hood mounting options that keep the noise and heat away from the cab. This is an interesting idea, but I don't think you'll get many takers.

If I can mount my existing Smittybilt 5.65 CFM compressor to it, then yes -- definitely interested.
Would like mounts for the driver seat as well though, so they're even.
