Then your tearing that badboy apart and replacing the shaft. Would cost about the same to find a used 4x4 trans and would be far less hassle. But we can crack that bad boy open and give her a try.

It’s the 340F trans which is nearly impossible to find and if you do it’s some serious $$$

Well lets pull that bad boy and crack it open. Worst that can happen is you have to take it to a trans shop if we cant figure it out. But im betting we can.

If the tail shaft housings will swap out it shouldn't be too hard

Thanks Jeff. Yea idk what rout to go. Transmission is the biggest hurdle basically. Everything else is literally bolt up except for modifications to the cross member

So from what I just read, the output shaft is the first thing in and last thing out for assembly process. That means your pulling everything out of the housing to swap it. I’m not familiar with that transmission but there are going to be lots of small retaining rings, clutch packs, and planetary parts that might have specific assembly sequences you don’t know about. Also, remember today’s vehicles are designed for assembly and not dis-assembly. There will definitely be some pita parts to get out without breaking. I’d go with the junkyard idea or at the very least get a transmission shop to do it.

I don’t know where you all live, but finding any 2nd gen at a junk yard is near impossible.

Yes sir, finding any Toyota truck is hard. I get text notifications when they arrive at Pull a Part in Birmingham and they are stripped in one day.

Anyone going to be in Virginia any time soon? A guy up there has a hood he isn’t willing to ship and I’d like to work out a deal to bring it back down. Thanks!
