What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Glad it was easy! It must be from the town portion of your driving, I do a lot of highway, but I have 82k right now and the stock pads are still at about 30% or so.

 

Painted my sliders, skids and rear bumper all willy nilly and it looks much better. I say all willy nilly because I didn’t mask a single thing off. Just held up a piece of cardboard and blasted away. WD 40 took off any over spray.

 

Dropped it off at dealership for frame inspection. May get a new frame out of it

 

I live near the beach. My Dakars starting squeaking on the passenger side, so I hosed them down with the garden hose pistol. Worked for a few days. Then the squeak came back on the passenger side only, again. I realized it is the side facing the beach and the wind. Looked closer and I could see grains of sand between the leafs. I picked up some of this:

No more squeak for 2-3 months, and very simple to occasionally apply from beneath the truck. The spray liquid becomes thicker grease after application. I got the idea from someone else here.

just replaced my hard cover bed with a retraxone mx , but now i read reviews it does not keep rain out of the bed. is that true?

 

Awesome. I’m at 90K, mostly highway. Bought mine at 30K. As far as I know there original unless the dealer changed them when I bought the truck.

I took the VIN to the dealer today and made an appointment to have the frame inspected.
I'm having it done Friday afternoon. Dealer said it will take about an hour.

 

Mine’s been there since 8am this morning. They said since their computer systems were down it may not be till tomorrow till they can get it done

 

Had the truck leveled out today.

 

I know the feeling. I also started with a bed cover then upgraded to a camper shell. With all the stuff i carry for the kids, it was just easy to toss things in the bed with a camper without having to play tetris..lol

 

Something I've always wanted to do. An on-demand front facing camera for self-spotting obstacles. The gridlines are adjusted to line up with my tires at least in the red and yellow zones. Camera mounted to bumper just above the winch fairlead

 

What are you using for the fender flare holes? I ripped all mine a long time ago then just drilled holes and carriage bolts through them to re attach but yours looks way cleaner than mine without them.

 

Tedious but well worth it. Get a lot of compliments on them.

Awesome free mod then. I just happen to have like 100 of those clips in my building somewhere from where I kept breaking them off my old hybrid bumper.

Been having some weird noises from the front passenger side wheel area. I think it’s maybe brake related so since it was on the list I went ahead and ordered what I need for the V8 4Runner/GX470 front brake upgrade. Only waiting on the new dust Shields to arrive now. Pretty excited to yank the wheels and get in there and find the culprit. I love gearing up for a mod weekend.

I have had the standard on for almost three years now and no issues. I have factory plates on, but would have installed one anyway if I did not. After years of annoying oil changes on my Pontiac GP and my wife's Altima, I had had enough!

Any stick or rock that would knock off the FV would punch a whole in the pan. The valve is not below the crossmember. I would not have one if I off-roaded the truck.

And as far as the slow drain goes, it is not so slow that you regret installing the valve.

 

I use this on my dakars also. I put the truck on a lift in our shop which lets the suspension droop and the leafs separate. Blow away any dirt, sand, etc. out of them. Spray lots of white lithium grease in between the leafs. Let the truck down and wipe off the excess. No squeaks for a few months
