Ripped off all four mudflaps. Scratches all down both sides 6112’s up front on 3rd notch 5100’s in back with Toytech 1” block Skids & sliders from SOS Concepts I got rid of the 1” block and put on Wheelers 1 1/2” progressive AAL. SPC UCA. Be sure your standing on the drivers side when reading the instructions! I swapped sides so many times that I can swap UCA’s in 15 minutes. I put in the 3/4” spacer to eliminate the Taco Lean, and just got my 4th alignment. Traded the OEM rims for 17” Sport rims and a bora bora 1” spacer. I got my Firestone 285/70/17 MT2’s. Pelfreybilt gas tank skid and hi-lift jack should be here Friday. Looking at bumpers, but I think they will wait for next year. So far I’m happy with my build. I’ve done it all myself, leading to a lot of cussing and frustration, but it’s all mine.
Awesome,,, I just put mine on today.

Them or the new shocks got rid of my driveline vibes.

I'm about to install a slightly used set myself. I've done a lot of research about the squeak and there's 4 solutions that seem to work the best for people. Depending on the source of your squeak you may need all 4 of them, but could probably get by with 2 of them

    1: Front bushing replacement - https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/change-the-front-bushings-in-your-dakars.479071/
2: Lots of people have reported success by replacing each of the factory wear pads with a dorman 31067 pad: https://www.amazon.com/Dorman-31067-Leaf-Spring-Insert/dp/B000TYU0FM
3: Some people have added liners that span the length of each spring. I'm not sure of the width/length needed but here's a source of them: https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Leaf-Spring-Liner-with-Lip-2-1-4-Inch,39823.html
4: Some people have added greasable pins that should help with bushing/pin squeak: https://www.dobinsonsdirect.com/pro...kit-for-toyota-tacoma-and-tundra-2005-to-2018

I personally am adding an extra leaf so my pack will be dissembled before I install it....so I'm considering doing all 4.

They say it works for about a month and then the squeak comes back.

I’ve fluid filmed. Worked for about a month. I bought a needle attachment for my grease gun and pryed apart the springs and greased with Red and Tacky grease and that worked for about two months. I just dread having to unbolt everything to hopefully fix it.

I think I’ll do the front bushing first and grease again and try to get to summer before I tear it apart.

My OCD would not approve of those springs... I guess I’ll keep rocking my AAL on the replacement Toyota packs as I upgrade my suspension.

I’m currently looking at a Fox 2.5 coilover setup for the front with 2.0 remote reservoir shocks in the rear. I think I’ve decided to focus on the suspension before I buy new wheels and I’m getting too old to feel every bump the way I do now on these 5100s and OME 885 springs (with top plate spacers) in the front. I think it’s time to upgrade to a big boy suspension and hopefully keep the fillings in my teeth in place on my daily commute.

Why do our roads have to suck so much...

Also, random learning of the day... I’ve been reading a crap ton about shocks in the last few days. I mean, shit, before I bought my truck I used to drive turbocharged, lowered cars where putting power to the ground and handling were much more important than rebound or extension. But holy hell, I had no idea the difference digressive vs. progressive valving makes in a shock.

It’s no wonder Bilstein shocks worked so well for me in those cars and why these 5100s are so stiff at lower speeds over bumps considering they’re digressive. Add in the top plate spacers and I’m not at all surprised my truck rides the way it does right now. If I’d have known the difference before I lifted my truck I’d have spent the money on Fox/Kings from the start...

Well, yeah, I guess they can’t all be winners. And I’ve read a few negative reviews of the 2.0 front coilover. That’s why I’m looking at the 2.5 coilover with remote reservoir for the front and 2.0 with remote reservoir and DSC adjusters for the rear.

Tuned primarily for street driving they should be significantly less harsh during my daily driving and in mild off-road situations. My current 5100/885 setup is ok on the highway but a bit harsh for my liking below 40 mph and off-road on dirt/gravel.

It sure does ride better than it did with the aal’s and 5100’s. The extra 75 hp is nice too.

A good mid ground between 5100s and fox/king is the 6112/5160 combo. My brother runs it on his 3rd gen and it rides fantastic on and off road. Could be a good budget option

The issue with that setup is the lift height in the front... they claim a max lift of 2.46” (I don’t know if those numbers are on a second or third gen though) and all the threads I read were saying ride suffered a lot at the top notch on the 6112. I also don’t want to fool with top plate spacers anymore, with the exception of a very small one on the driver’s side to correct lean.

If that quoted 2.46” of lift is for the third gen, I don’t think I’d need to use the top notch to get ~2.5” on my truck though. Seeing as second gen trucks sit about an inch lower from the factory, the shock/spring setup on the bottom notch may provide an inch over stock, meaning I’d only need to preload the coil enough for another inch or so. I’ll have to read second gen specific threads and see what results people are seeing.

That option would probably save me about $1000 versus the Fox setup I’ve priced out, so it’s definitely worth researching it some more before I pull the trigger on anything.

Those would provide the lift I’m looking for and will cost about the same as the Fox setup I’m looking at right now. I haven’t done any research on those yet though.

I know nothing about them either other than they're smooth af. There's a few in this thread running them now.
