Finally found my leak

After a year of searching, I found out this morning that my leak was coming from the front differential axle shaft oil seal on the pass side. I will do both sides to be safe. Just ordered the OEM seals (Output Shaft Seals) and OEM front diff crush washers. My guy is charging me $250 labor plus new amsoil fluid

did you have anti-corrosion stuff sprayed on that area that made it hard to see any leakage
i recall this leak you had from last year (thought the neighbors were messing around at night?)

 

I had Krown/Corrosion X sprayed all over before and during. I made the mistake off not using a paper towel to the spot and smelling it over the last year plus. Two times I brought it to my guy overnight and no leaks. It only happens at my place ....also, it seldom showed the leak

 

$250!!!! I did my passenger side a few weeks ago and cost a grand total of $50 (OEM seal and time in the shop $5 and hour). Not hard at all to do.

Should you do the boots too since it will be apart?

 

Not sure...they look fine to me though

 

Look for spider cracks in the rubber

 

4 OEM boots run around $140 for all....Beck Arnley run about $65 for all 4
