My 1988 E350 Motorhome frame left the factory with a light black coating that has long been replaced with a layer of oxidation. That frame is solid. 31 years and the motorhome section will rot out way before the frame and chassis will.

I was actually pretty productive, but on everyday as a guest watching the dumpster fires. I would just sit at work bored out of my mind

    Mostly dust and dirt.
Okay. So apparently Toyota hasn’t been able to figure out how to prevent rust.
So how long will my frame last? I need it to last at least 5 years. Is that anything approaching reality?

OP, check it out. The undercoating you received looks like Krown (with a K), Canadian company, or a similar application. It is far better than a rubberized coating, such as Ziebart. Google Ziebart problems or Ziebart frame rot and you will see what I'm talking about.

The key with undercoating such as yours is maintenance, have it checked every year

Hello OP, I posted a similar question. I'm also a new Tacoma owner in Canada. Just picked up my truck, slightly used it's already showing rust on the frame area your's was sprayed, the good folks here tell me it's Cavity wax, and Toyota says it's supposed to prevent corrosion, I guess they "missed" mine during production in April 2019. Mixed opinions on what should be done,

Here's a link to my story, maybe it helps maybe not...

Your story helped me, so thanks for posting.

Your frame wasn't missed, if they did this at the factory they wouldn't be doing this for trucks in select areas.

Shouldn't have any issues with your frame lasting longer than that if you rust proof it and apply film on it correctly. Mine is going on 3 years and only has 2 quarter size surface rust from rock chips that i plan to address this spring. If you keep up with it, it'll last at least 10 years before you start to even notice any issues

Isn't spraying cavity wax into a cavity that is already rusting, as in my case, like closing the barn door after the horse has run away?

Anything that is going to harden is going to trap any moisture and rust already there no? A product like Krown, which stays liquid and forces its way into seams drives the water out. Previous experience with the product, it works as advertised. So because I live in Canada... and we get snow, we use road salt, you would think Toyota would have figured this out. I'll be keeping a dialogue with them and keep spraying my truck every year.

They didn't spray cavity wax in to it.

You got an undercoat that’s far better than any rubberized one. Rubberized just traps moisture against the steel, and makes vehicles difficult to service if need be.
