For me it's the low cost audio upgrade thread. Has to be the best ~$250 I've ever spent. Every time I get in the wifes corolla I cringe at the soulless stock audio output. If I had to do it again I would not get the 3 way 6x9's in the front doors though. Way too much treble, get 6x9's without the tweeters

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/premium-audio-upgrade-for-less-than-250.510424/

The Taco Garage Dashtop Multi Mount is also high on my list of must haves.

I really didn't like the transmission when I first got this truck. I was ready to take it back and get my 2nd Gen taco back from the dealership before I stumbled across the OVTune thread. I flashed my truck a year ago and haven't looked back. Atm there is a *huge* software update being worked on (2.0 update already released for manual transmission) that is promising to completly get rid of the funky way the stock automatic transmission functions. In wouldn't recommend OVT being the first purchase for a new owner but I would suggest it be kept in the back of your mind in case you fall out of love with your truck after a few months. Be warned, I think this is the largest thread in the 3rd Gen section of TW.

this cannot be understated. Best mod I did to my third gen was to get the fuck rid of it.

Love mine, great truck. I’d drive it a while, get the feel for it. Console divider and the radio knob add on is best mods. Someone here make the radio knobs

I love the puddles too but those just look cool. The cabin lights are a great functional upgrade.

Off Road model is almost the same price of a Sport with way more options. SR5 is a great little truck on it's own.

    Good luck!

Leave it stock, then change things you don’t like after a few thousand miles. Who knows, you might even like what the Billion Dollar company and its team of engineers have created. Don’t be like my friend who ruined his
Rubicon with 35s and a lift and never goes off road. It was much nicer stock for road only use, he admitted this after a year.

yeah if you do a lot of outdoor activities you'll destroy cloth floor mats. The rubber ones are so easy to hose-off. you can usually sell your stock cloth mats for $50 online and upgrade to weather techs or similar for like $220. it'll save your interior and protect your resale value. plus, you can get as muddy as you want :rockband:

I enjoy the glove compartment organizer thing made from plastic you can get on Amazon. I can stuff more shit in there without the books in the way. I enjoy the center console plastic organizer so I can throw more shit in the truck and not have to dig through a bunch. I also like the little tray thing for the center lid storage thing.. Those 3 are pretty essential in my opinion. Just for the sake of finding stuff when you’re out and about.

Otherwise for me, large beef tires to help while off-roading. I went with pizza cutter style. 255/85R16 ST MAXX from cooper on the stocko wheels. And those are amazing offroad. I will say the ditch lights I installed have come in handy while off-roading and the sun is falling in the forest.

My bumper so far is non essential. I could live with out it— I haven’t put a winch in yet. (Saving for suspension upgrades before any more heavy stuff)..

Oh the rock sliders I got did help when I was going through some sloppy rocky muddy trails.. so did the oem skid plate I trashed.
