What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Here they are mounted. What did I do with my Sparco's you ask? I made them into office chairs.

 

They're so much more plush than the Sparcos, but I've driven 300 miles straight in them and it didn't bother me at all. I was just tired of having to have the seats adjusted just right to get to the seatbelts.

 

I've been planning on ordering those seats pretty soon. What's your initial impression of them? Did you get the lumbar support? If so, is it worth it?

 

They're GTS II's. I got them last weekend when 4WP was having a sale. 6-months same as cash sealed the deal!

 

I didn't get the lumbar supports. They're pretty good quality and offer just as much support as the Sparcos. I didn't need the shoulder supports that the Sparcos had, and they got in the way with looking over my shoulder. I tried to use my existing Sparco sliders, but they were too short. I wound up bolting them directly to the bases and it fit me perfectly. I was going to wait to order a set, but screw it, It fits fine now, and it also sits about 1 inch lower without them.

 

Good to hear, glad you like them. I'll probably get the "shaved" option so they sit 1'' lower like yours do. I've heard a few complaints of the non-shaved with corbeau seat brackets sitting too high.

 

The only problem with going without the sliders is your reach to the pedals might not be perfect. You can also forget about having any adult getting into the back of the cab. They still recline, but they better be super skinny, or flexible. I got lucky, I'm 5'6 and was surprised that it put me in the perfect driving position.

 

I used the corbeau adjustable sliders and they work perfectly.
I’ve had my set for 2-3 years and love them.

The one down side is the drivers side bolster by the drives side door will probably collapse over time because you drag your ass over and squashs it down.

I had to take the driver seat to an Upholstery auto shop about 6 months later. I had the bolster cut down so it doesn’t stick up so high and they put a layer of carpet over the top of the foam to give it strength underneath the fabric, so be prepared for that issue. It cost $100 for the added support for me
to have it modified.

What was the login behind keeping the spare tire carrier on there when doing the relocation?

Pretty much everyone i've seen that's done a shock relocation has ditched it.

 

Mostly just surface rust. Certainly not rot. It'll get cleaned up and painted.

The tire carrier mechanism is long gone. And now the crossmember is gone too.

Not gonna lie. That looks like a dumb place for that. It would just be all up in my shit and annoy the hell out of me. I'd hit my legs on it non stop.

 

I have bumped it getting out, but not while driving. We shall see if it is something I keep or not.

 

BenCO. I turn 60 this year and can remember how I felt being with my dad going places in his old Ford Econline when I was 7 or 8. May not seem like much now but they’re memories that will last a lifetime.
