I'm doing a dual battery install, Odyssey PC1500 Marine with a CTEK 250 DC/DC charger.

I'm thinking that placing battery #2 under the hood is the best location but the truck is an '06 and has the ABS system on the PS inner fender. I'm contemplating moving the air intake toward the front of the rig, next to the radiator but before my brain overthinks all of this I thought I would ask what others have done.

I went through a lot of threads tonight where most are late model 2nd Gens and the battery sat behind the secondary air pump, something I don't have.

Any ideas? If you put it in the bed of the rig how did you do it? Extra credit for photos.

Bed install is the easiest IMO. Just need a couple long runs of 0g cable and you're good to go.

I did and the consensus was either dual batteries paired together at the OEM location or a second battery over on the passenger side fender but those were generally on newer 2nd gens where the ABS was mounted elsewhere and the secondary air piece was moved. I'm now thinking I just need to re-route the air intake and then drop the battery on the PS inner fender. If it would stop snowing here long enough to get some garage time, I'd figure it out.

This is how I rerouted my air inbox, plenty of room for a battery there now, I'd think.

For the record, zero performance gains, just did it for shits and giggles.

Thanks for that. I didn't expect to get any power out of it, I just want the air to flow from a different location. I appreciate the images.

Mine are dual back-to-back in stock location due to the ABS actuator location. Just my $0.02, don't take the easy road like I did. Figure out a way to get the weight moved from the stock location and don't add to it especially. If you can't get it shoehorned against firewall at least put the extra weight in bed. My long term plan is to locate both batteries under the truck on the frame rail opposite the fuel tank. My core support hasn't yet ripped but the inner fender is sagging. My opinion was it must just be Internet wisdom or that it was just people really beating on their trucks but I'm changing my mind.

    If I
If I am picturing your set up correctly, it's similar to what I did. Pics are from link in post #3.

How do you have the air intake end of the hose mounted? I know that Spectre and others sell a 4" flange to mount the hose to and then you screw that to your incoming air source, like the front radiator/grille support.

Have you noticed any increase in cabin noise from the intake? I've done this before on Jeeps and it was a noise I got used to.

This looks like the cleanest and simplest way to through with it short of sticking a hose end in the front air stream.

The end faces downward and is zip tied to the upper radiator hose to keep it in place (you can barely see it in the pic). At the filter is a 4-inch ss worm-drive clamp. No, I haven't noticed an increase in noise. However, when I first installed it, I had MT tires which drowned out all noises. Now that I have quieter tires, I may not realize how much noise the setup makes.

Thanks for the info. I just ordered one. I thought about going to the cowl and actually talked to a friend of mine that owns a cowl intake company for Jeeps and he suggested I do this.

4 years laters, the duct hose is holding up well. I clamped it with a fancy T-bolt 304 SS clamp, size 102-110mm, designed for turbo silicone hose. Brand is Red Hound Auto.
