What was wrong with the LCA's, bad bushings? I recently replaced the LBJ's & UBJ's on mine

Ya just old bushings. Were making a lot of noise. Our family friend shop said it’d be the same price just to replace the whole arm instead to save on labor. Thought about doing it myself but I don’t have the time or resources.

Left to right. 1997 with 397k, 2003 with 198k, 2001 with 79k and finally the 2000 has near 230k. Just great all around reliable trucks. 680AE2A3-E6DF-4D7F-A3B4-269170138E18.jpg

Yeah, it’s pretty bad. They are not as easy to find in acceptable condition so I have a hard time passing one up when I find it. All manual trans except for the Pre-runner. The white one is actually a 2002, just bought it about 2 months ago.

I don’t know about anyone else but when I’m on a road that is around 45 - 50mph it tends to want to shift back and forth so I take it out of OD.

I believe that’s normal. Mine does the same thing when I turn OD off so I don’t think it’s supposed to be used for higher speeds. I usually just use it for slowing down when going downhill so it’s easier on the brakes.

161,000 on the 2.7L on the right and 257,000 on the 3.4L on the left. Both auto 4x4. The 3.4L is the smoothest running engine I have ever owned. Exhaust pipe is extremely clean.

I swapped the tires/wheels (both sets 16") since this pic and the 3rd gen wheels look better with the Silver. The T4R 3rd gen wheels look so so on the green. They need to be black.

sweet looking SR5, Dennis 97SR5 ... the very last year that SR5 really 'meant' something, not too many around on TW
how long have you had it & how many of those miles are yours?
is the power antenna and everything in good working condition still?

these miles (pic taken last week) are all mine, with gas prices the lowest my truck has seen in over 15 years I am looking to add more on the cheap since TW showed me that miles on these 1st gen tacomas aren't nothing but a number if properly maintained

$26 for a tank sure definitely beats $55 all day every day

Thanks GQ7227, and thanks for making the new fish feel welcome. New to TW but definitely not new to these amazing trucks. I bought the truck over 10 years ago with 68,000 on it. Ive turned every nut and bolt on this truck from doing a jasper crate motor , rebuilding the trans and two totally suspension rebuilds. This pic was just taken after I did a complete ome kit with new UCA’s from JBA in my garage during shelter in place. Love your SR5, really clean!

Yes, I have the sunroof, I’m shocked it doesn’t leak either! My brother ordered this one with every option. The only thing it doesn’t have is power seats but I don’t even think they were an option. Everything still works flawless!
