    Hey all,

Just lifted my 19 OR and put 33's on it not too long ago. It is a short bed with an A/T with only 10k miles. Looking to regear the same truck. After doing some research I have decided to go with 4.88's seeing how 5th and 6th gear in 3rd gens are both overdrive.

My question to you all is what do I need to purchase parts wise? I plan on just paying a shop for labor. What do I need and what is not needed? As of now I have been looking at https://www.nitro-gear.com/Toyota-Tacoma-Nitro-Gear-Package-p/gptaco2016-8.75-select.htm

    Thank you

Got squared away with gearing and have an appointment to get 4.88's front and rear. Next question is will regearing screw with my speedo and odo? I have been seeing a lot of conflicting information about it.

    Thanks

It will not. Only tires of a different size will.

I have Nitro Gear currently but you might also want to check out Yukon. They are good too. You might find supply issues and long backfill times so its good to have options

At 70mph with 4.88’s and 32’s I sit at 2100rpms so imagine with 33’s it will be cherry for highway mpgs. However, 33’s is vastly different when doing 255’s vs 285’s.

I’m hoping that you went with 255’s for many different reasons...

Care to elaborate? Regear is on my list but I plan on running 265/75/16's when the time comes. I don't know squat about regear other than what I have read on this forum.

same tire size. I went 5.29 and absolutely love it. Consider lockers when re gearing to save cost on labor since they’re already in there working the diffs.
