Does V2.0 still require any wiring, or is it straight plug and play?

The V2 still requires some wiring, but is the closest to plug and play it can get.

I pre-pin the headlight tag and ground wires into the new DRL plug.

The DRL wire off the 3-pin DRL SR5 connector needs to convert to a male pin (provided) and gets placed in the only open hole on the new DRL plug.

Then you just tag the headlight wire and ground.

The other two female pin wires (brown and white/black) that come off the 3-pin DRL SR5 connector get placed into the new 2-pin connector.

All get's locked in place and that's all for the wiring.

Here is something I learned today. The turn signal socket of the SR5 is different from the TRD ones.:annoyed:

I wonder if we can use this along with the 2020 conversion kit in order to install the 2020 led headlights.

Yes it is, super annoying, but you can actually just trim one of the tabs off the existing socket and make it work. I did it with a utility knife.

Where is the radio setting that allows you to turn off the amber drls?

Does anyone what these are for? I assume those are the new connector for the two pin turn signal but they don’t fit. I take it I will have to buy a new two prong socket or will the old three prong work with the middle (DRL) wire removed?

I figured it out. I just reused the original 3 pin socket for the turn signal.

I have another question though. Which headlight wire do I tap the white wire from the harness into? The red one?

I read that. I already removed those, swapped the female pins to male pins and inserted them into the harness.

I’m talking about the white wire from the new harness

Edit: this is the part I’m talking about.

That’s the answer I was looking for. :hattip:
Now... without a multi meter, which one is the positive one?

I need some help. Maybe some of the more tech savvy guys on here (not me) can chime in. :help:
I hooked up TRD headlights +halos with the harness from @Taco-Man18 and some help from @In4aride  and everything seems to be working except my DRLs/halos when set to DRL. When turning on the parking lights or headlights, the DRL and halos both come on and work fine.
Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

I might be buying some 2019 pro headlights for my 2016 SR5 Tacoma.

I am located in Gardena would you be able to make It happen with your set up?

    thanks in advance.

Knocked this out today with the harness provided by the OP. Everything went very well, even with it being my first time unpinning / pinning a harness. Splicing into the wiring harness was rather nerve wracking, but it worked out alright and I tidied everything up nice and neat as if it were factory.

Really appreciate you laying this out for us in your DIY. Gave me the confidence to tackle this project!

Just wanted to provide some feedback and share my experience since this took some experimenting to figure it all out. Maybe it’ll help someone tackling this mod in the future.

I initially thought that it all was going to be plug n play and that the stalk settings would work the same except for now having a LED DRL instead of an amber one. But due to the OEM wiring of the SR5, this is not the case. I am by far not the most experienced when it comes to electrical stuff and wiring so this might be possible through some splicing and what not. But following the instructions, this is how it worked for me. Having switchback halos actually worked out perfectly since I can run two settings: amber and white.

DRL setting “NOT checked“ on HU:

This is how the write up explains it. The LED DRL works just like on the TRD models but on the parking setting. (Nothing happens on the DRL setting) The only bummer is that on parking it dims the radio screen which at times can be annoying during the day.
    Lights are:
    1. Off - off
    2. DRL - off
    3. Parking - LED DRL and halo are on (white) (pictured below)
    4. Low beam - same as parking plus the low beam

    14653E5E-2ACC-4A24-A6F1-0AFC094FEC27.jpg

When the DRL Setting is “checked” on HU:

This way the DRL setting works but it will use the turn signal as the DRL just like on the SR5 lights. The LED DRL will not work on the DRL setting.
    Lights are:
    1. Off - off
    2. DRL - turn signal and halo are on (amber), LED DRL is off (pictured below)
    3. Parking - turn signal and halo are on (amber), LED DRL is also on (white) o_O
    4. Low beam - LED DRL and halo (white) plus the low beam
